Description

1987: America is ready for the introduction of the Acura brand Legend. The first Japanese sedan to implement a V6 engine, esigned in partnership with Land Rover, nd the first top of the line Luxury car to represent Japan as a competitor in the sport luxury business. As Acura #1, his is a rare opportunity to own a collectible piece of history. With precise braking, mooth shifting on the close ratio gear box, nd sporty pickup (even when the car is full), he car blew the market out of the water and started a new era of Japanese luxury that other manufactures soon followed suit in. Ahead of it's time, t has features like four programmable presets on the full spectrum EQ, n dash Audio controls, rake light out indicators, ruise control, nd four interior compartments within reach of the drivers seat (not including ashtrays). Modern amenities such as a wireless entry, ireless trunk release, nd an alarm system make this car a convenient hybrid of classic and modern eras.

Also ahead of it's time are the car's lighting and convenience features. A light above the drivers feet and the ignition ring stay lit for 45 seconds after the driver's door is shut. When unlocked, he running lights and blinkers blink twice, nd the overhead interior lights stay on for a minute. When locked, hey blink once. The remote trunk release, ith the option to lock out the trunk from the glovebox, s another testament to this cars ingenuity and foresight. The windows remain operational after the key is turned off and removed. until a door is opened. Car with comes with two keys, nd two wireless fobs.

Features: A/C, ruise control, ower windows, ower locks, uto driver window, ower mirrors, ual antenna AM/FM Radio, aper Player, luetooth mod in stock stereo to connect to your smartphone, programmable preset full spectrum EQ, coustic matting, tock floor mats, pare tire, ack, ariable speed blower control, lectronically controlled vents and ducting. back seat vents. Rare manual transmission for added sportiness. Brake light out indicators. Trunk lockout. Remote trunk release. Fog Lights.
The interior, rom the dash to the back seat, s nearly immaculate. The seat pockets are tight, he *giant back speakers still deliver punch, nd the front speakers have been replaced with modern high end Polk speakers. There is an extra set of rear speakers, or the unlikely event that the stock Pioneer's may go out one day. They are incredibly hard to find, o I bought them even though they aren't needed.
This car lived the majority of it's life in Lafayette, alifornia. There is no rust on the body or chassis. It has been well maintained, rotected from sun and weather, nd cleanedregularly.
Just passed smog. Paperwork included.
Issues: none, his car is ready to go.
This car was kept in a garage in Lafayette for nearly 30 years, aken as a trade-in at a dealer, hen sold to me. 150 horses with five speeds deliver power with a quiet interior. This is the *true first generation Legend. This car was made top of the line in order to make an impression, s it was Acura's first car on the American market; from the metal door handles and trim, o the no slip floor mats. The quiet cloth interior is superb, nd in near original condition. Everything in this car works, nd it has more factory convenience lights than a modern day Lincoln. The glass headlights make this a classic, nd they don't yellow (much to the envy of many Bay Area residents). Original blue plates. Cruise Control, /C, nd nice sound from the amazing stock stereo (with new Polk speakers up front) playing music from your smartphone via the bluetooth connection. Title is clean. You could drive this car from coast to coast after signing your name, t's ready to go anywhere.
I take credit cards for your convenience.
Current Maintenance:New Firestone tires.New gas shocks on hood (lifters).New Gabrielle tire shocks all around.Bluetooth hack in the stock radio.Wireless locks and alarm.Re-wound original Denso alternator.Brake and Clutch return rubber dampers new from Acura.New Brake Light Switch
Listed below is some of the praise for this vehicle. The car talk guys (when they both were still around), ould always sing the praise of the first generation legend.
"It was the first flagship sedan sold under the Acura nameplate, ..."
"Honda introduced the model in Japan on October 22, 985 to be their premier luxury model and in North America in 1986 as the top of the line model for its then-new Acura lineup. Sedan models came to the market first, owered by a 151 hp (113 kW) 2.5 LC25A V6... "
"The Legend was the first production Honda vehicle to offer a V6 engine. The Legend was a result of a joint venture with Britain's Austin Rover Group called Project XX that started in November 1981 with the Austin Rover-Honda XX letter of intent signed by the two companies to replace the Rover SD1 and to provide a luxury vehicle for Honda. The Rover Company had a long established reputation as a luxury car in the United Kingdom and Europe, emonstrated with the Rover P6, nd Honda wanted to introduce a luxury car for both domestic Japanese and the United States markets. The joint development produced the Legend and the corresponding British version was the Rover 800-series, hich was badged under the Sterling brand in the United States and competed with the Legend."
"The Legend won Car and Driver's Ten Best three years in a row and Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1987. Manual-equipped models could sprint to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). Sedan models had a coefficient of drag of 0.32, hile coupes were only 0.30."
