1961 Alfa Romeo Sprint Normale(Mfg 12/59, old 1/60 in Calif.)
This is a great rust free California car, n good condition inside and out, he body is straight and solid. The interior still retains its rare front bucket seats (photo documentation inAlfa technical book) and the uncommon back seat. The seats and door panels were recovered some time ago but the carpet was recently installed. The floors and trunk have no rust in them, I also have the original bumpers and correct trunk lid). The motor, hich I was told was rebuilt, tarts right up and runs strong without grinding in any gears, t has also been converted to a 5spd. It has driven and idled in Los Angeles traffic and has not overheated. It is not numbers matching, he motor number is a 1962 1300. The Italian registry indicates it is still the correct red, t was painted a couple of years ago and was matched to original painted areas of the car. This car has been a reliable weekend car for the last couple of years and I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I have.
Sadly, am selling my Alfas as I had major foot surgery and I was already a little cramped because I’m tall but I can no longer get my foot at the right angle to clutch in the Alfas. My other early cars have more leg room so I don’t have the same problem, love Alfas and can’t believe our relationship is coming to an end.
Due to work commitments I had a friend list the car before (2015) and it reached $36,000 but I did not sell it. I am listing with no reserve this time, ut it may sell locally before the auction ends.
Please, uestions or inspections will only be handled before the close of auction, pon ending, he auction is a final sale of the car. A non-refundable deposit of $2,000 will be due through Paypal within 24 hours and the balance owed is due within 4 days of the end of the auction.
Thank you
Update: (I don't know why the text came out so small?? sorry)
A very respected vintage sportscar journalist inspected the car yesterday for his out of state friend (a potential buyer), hese were observations.
He said thecar presented itselfaccurately from the description, very pretty, traight, olid top and bottom, ust-free example. He drove the car up and down through all 5 gears and he was very smooth, nly the first shift into second had a slight bump but consequent shifts up and down were smooth, he same as when I drive it (receipt for the complete 2011 trans rebuild by Classic Alfa, es shipping back and forth to England). He felt it was a great car to drive as a truly respectable local ‘cars and coffee driver’with details can be sortedas one owns it. Some of the items that needed to be addressed were, indshield wipers, he turn signals, he driver’s side window crank came loose but the escutcheon and spring are still present (think it’s the set pin). The funny thing was there were 3 or 4 switches that appear to be stock because I googled them but we couldn’t figure out what they were for, ome Alfisti will know! My Spider Veloce (1960) did not have them though, or did the Spiders I googled. And the new door rubber on driver's side needs regluing that's why the door line didn't look straight inphotos.I didn’t note these items above in the listing because they have worked in the past but the car hadn’t been driven for the last couple of months due to surgery, probably should have checked. He did mention he felt the nose had been bumped(gently)and also felt it was repaired correctly, ’m going to try and take close up photos of it tonight. It is very straight now. He also thinks it was tapped (also gently)in the trunk lid because as I mentioned it does have a different year decklid on it and it’s just ever so slightly off, hat’s why I sourced the proper year lid recently. He did not see any signs of damage in the rear body area or trunk just small amounts of filler where the bumper bracket holes were filled (filled with metal, ut smoothed). I should mention he used a magnet for the entire car and everywhere else it adhered.
I think that sums it up for good further disclosure, hank you for your interest.
