FIRST - WHY AM I SELLING? I am about to turn 71, nd according to my doctor - my back is shot! Just sold off my MG-B, nd my MG-TD. Now it is the Alfa. Shortly it will be my Porsche 944 S2; my Fiat Multipla; and my Nash Healey,,,,, I am at that age where (I can't believe I am about to say this) - I NEED A BUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!
So, he cars are goingand need to sell. This one is being listed with NO RESERVE!
PAINT: Repainted – see details below. CHROME: Rechromed – see details below. ENGINE: Rebuilt – see details below. This car was originally imported into the United States by an American service man stationed overseas. It stayed in his family, assing to his brother-in-law, ho sold it to me. It was taken off the road by the previous owner around 1998 to undergo a restoration. The gentleman I bought the car from is now quite elderly and was not able to provide me exact dates on some of the work, ut I feel the dates below are fairly accurate. Between 1998 and today the following work has been done. The car has less than 1,000 miles on it since it was put back in running condition. ENGINE: The engine was rebuilt some time in the mid 1990s – it has less than 1,000 miles on it since the rebuild. OTHER MECHANICAL: Converted to a single wire alternator, nd was converted from positive ground to negative ground. All instruments/other wiring converted. Master cylinder rebuild by White Post, rake kit and front wheel cylinders. PAINT: The paint appears to have been done, n the original color, ometime around the same time as the engine – mid 1990s. The paint today is bright and shiny – looks good. (As you might imagine, he car does have a chip or two – see below). CHROME: The previous owner tells me that he sent “all 62 pieces of chrome” out for rechroming. I find it hard to believe the car actually has that many pieces of chrome – but it is clear that the chrome has been redone. (there are two places where I find the chrome to be lacking: One is on the instrument bezels; and the second is the hubcaps – the car could use a new, r rechromed set to be up to the standard of the rest of the chrome.) INTERIOR: The seats have been changed for those of a later model Alfa. The previous owner said he did this because the seats that were originally in the car were not adjustable, nd the replacement seats from the later Alfa are. Seats are in good condition. The carpet set looks amateurishly installed and has some wear spots (please see the 3rd last picture) – it should be replaced at some point. Also, he shift boot is missing from the bottom of the shifter. The glovebox door does not have a key – may need a new lockset. BODY: The car does not have a top – it has the frame, ut not the top. It apparently was in rough shape and the previous owner discarded it, nd I’ve never been inclined to actually go ahead and order one. (If you go on line to Robbins Auto Top Co., hey have a nice black Haartz top for $ 273.00). When the car was painted all the small clips for the tonneau cover were removed and never replaced. A bag of clips goes with the car – easily installed. Re the trunk lock – the car does not have a key for the trunk lock. As such, he previous owner installed a cable from the inside of the car back to the inside of the trunk lock (there are actually two separate cables – one being a backup for the other). Passenger side rear wheel arch. I have included a closeup picture (please see the last picture) that shows a black smudgey mark on the wheel arch. Just in front of that there is what looks like some small bubbling, r something, nder the paint. I find it hard to believe it is rust since the car was repainted, ut there is something there – could just be bad prep before the paint job….?? Driver side front wheel arch. I have included a closeup picture (please see the 2nd last picture) that shows a small chip on the lip of the arch. If you look closely you should be able to make out a depression just above the chip – the kind of depression that might form if you pushed your knee into the panel (which I think is what happened). It needs to be popped up and the small chip touched up. WORK I HAD DONE ON THE CAR IN THE LAST TWO YEARS: A. New battery B. Four new shocks C. Replaced fuel filters D. Sent fuel tank out for rebuild, nside coating. Replaced fuel sending unit. E. Just had oil and filter changed; tune up, ew plugs, lutch adjusted, tc. IN SUMMARY: A good looking, ood driving, eliable car – just about everything rebuilt or restored,,,,, hat just needs a couple easily resolved cosmetic tweaks (carpet, ew top, tc). And, ot to be understated, his car runs out like an ALFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have any questions please contact me. Thanks, Ray ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH CAR BEING SOLD WHERE IS, S IS!
