Description

1983 AMC SHORT STEP VAN DELIVERY TRUCK!

These short vans are very popular for mobile businesses or advertising. This is right hand drive, and has the amc 258 inline six cylinder with torqueflight 727 automatic. These vans look cool chopped or lowered and are becoming more popular for rod projects. They are good for vending also at car shows and other events. Although this is a small van there is room in the back to stand up and put sleeping quarters, cooking equipment, speed parts, t-shirt shop, coffee truck, donut truck, bonneville push rig, gasser, drag van, tattoo parlor. It really is unique to drive this and it turns around on a dime. These get a lot of attention. The corvette hubcaps aren't included, but I'm sure it would look better with some nice rims. Big torque thrusts? Thanks, and happy bidding. Also pictured below are other cool vans. Many more pics of this van are available.

MECHANICAL

This van has the 258 amc/jeep six cylinder with automatic transmission. The motor runs good and it does not smoke. It should have the carburetor rebuilt or replaced though. These carbs have some inherent problems and many people replace them with upgraded models, or aftermarket carbs. It runs and idles ok, but will run much better with the carb rebuilt or upgraded. The choke doesn't seem to work properly so it takes a while to warm it up. There are tons of performance parts available for these engines because this was the same engine in many jeeps, amc's, and '72-'80 IHC scouts. The engine does need a valve cover gasket, and I'm sure it should have the fluids changed and a basic tuneup. It will need new tires and shocks. The brakes work well and this has power brakes with discs in the front. Manual steering but it's easy to steer. I've driven the van around my property enough to see that all the gears work. The transmission doesn't slip. The engine has no knocks or ticks. No oil in the water or water in the oil. It runs cool. Everything works on this van. The wipers, heater, lights, signals, interior light, gauges, parking brake.
BODY
The body is very straight and rust free. There is not much more to say than that. I've been under it also and have undercarriage pics. No frame or floor rust either. A very dry and solid rig. The paint looks original. No sign of any repaint anywhere or filler. All doors open/shut properly.

INTERIOR

The interior on this van is is pretty basic and minimal. The dash area is intact and in decent condition. Gauges aren't broken and work. A removable passenger seat has been added. All doors and windows work. It's clean and doesn't smell.

Used and sold as-is.
