1968 AMC AMX with very rare factory option pack. 390 high performance engine, speed transmission, osi-traction rear end, ide pipes, adio delete, iberglass hood, ower steering, ower brakes. I was told the mileage was correct when I bought the car some time ago, ased on the condition of the car it must be as it is very nice condition. After checking into the numbers and history it appears this is 1 of just over 500 made and the first year of the AMX. The engine and transmission are the correct numbers, nd it is very clear that this is a factory race car that can be driven on the street. This is not a modified car, his is a piece of history that has been maintained to keep it as stock as possible yet still drive on the street. It was painted a few years ago along with the rubber replaced just to give it that shine and make you smile when you close the doors with new rubber.
TheEngine: This thing sounds incredible even though the engine is stock other than simple bolt onmodificationssuch as: MSD ignition, luminum intake, delbrock Carb (original carb comes with car, s it was changed out to make the car more streetable) and headers.
The Transmission and Rear end: Shifts very well, mooth and easy, t is a close ratio transmission, eaning the gears are very close of which I am certain purposely designed at AMC to compete in road race courses. The rear endis definitely a posi!
Interior: It is invery good condition, ou can tellit was built for factoryracingas it is simple, am sure to keep the weight to a minimum. The one piece headliner sags just a little in the center, t just needs to be repositioned, am 6'5" and it never touches my head, t is just something I never took an hour to address.
Wheels / Tires: Factory Magnum 500 wheels, ven the spare, hey look great on the car with great thread left on the tires.
Body: Straight as an arrow, o rust, o signs of repairs ever made, hich is easy to detect on all AMX, his car has been very well maintained all its life.
Paint: This thing really shines, here is one very small chip, mean very small on one of the front fenders, ther than that is fantastic!
Rubber and weatherstripping: Fantastic shape, t was all replaced a few years ago.
This is a very nice car and a very rare car indeed, t draws the crowds like crazy, nd stands out at all car shows. Back in the late 60's this was the Camaro and Mustang eater and was campaigned very well in many factory races. This was the car to beat.
I keep the car always inside and waxed, hope it goes to a good home for someonewho truly understands its importance in muscle car history, his is the ONLY two seater muscle car ever made!! With the rare options this car is a prize in any collection.
Thank you for looking and bidding.
