Description

This is a 1987 TVR S1 model. The 1987 model uses a 2. 8 fuel injected 160 h. p. Ford Cologne engine. Weighing less than two thousand pounds. the car is rather quick. I purchased the vehicle as a winter project and have been fine tuning the previous restoration by removing the rear suspension. chemically stripping the fabricated trailing arms. and replacing them with new high tensile hardware. polyurethane bushings. and new GAZ Pro shocks (front and rear) and new springs from England. I also replaced the rear hub bearings. stripped all paint on the remaining rear suspension pieces and rear portion of the chassis. and repainted everything using two part paints. The chassis was then sealed using Waxoyl to prevent any future rust. While the differential case was out. I replaced the stock unit was a brand new Detroit Truetrac limited slip unit. I also replaced the mountings with new polyurethane and installed a new alloy rear carrier from MC2 Racing. I remounted the doors so they no longer drag - a common TVR issue. The convertible top and targa pieces also are new. Fuel tank mounting bracket also was removed. stripped. and painted. Fuel tank is in very good condition. The car is right hand drive. The rollbar came from Rollcentre in England. I've just installed that so the carpet will need to be cut around it. Tires are almost new. The car has a new Kenwood radio. I expect to have the car ready for delivery within a few weeks. There is an active group of TVR S owners on the Pistonheads forum. These guys will answer any maintenance e questions you might have. This is a great car for the price. It was brought to the States under the Federal 25-year exemption rule and can be registered easily anywhere in the country. Might consider trade for interesting project or daily driver.
