Year: 1993
Model: UrS4
Mileage: 220,xxx
Color Exterior: Black
Color Interior: Black Leather w/ Black Alcantara Headliner (custom)
Location: Bangor, PA
EXTERIOR: The black paint on this car has seen better days, but is in overall decent shape for a 23 yr old car. I'd say it's about a 10 foot paint job, though there is also some clear coat hazing on the roof. The hood and trunk show a repaint at some point, which wasn't necessarily done by the pros. . . There is also the typical rust you find on the pass side fender for these cars. There is no other rust damage to the remainder of the vehicle, and it's very solid. There are also typical dents/scratches one would come to expect with this vintage car. BUT, the reason you'd be interested in this car is more for the flawless interior and recent engine/mechanical work. . .
INTERIOR: The interior in this car is in absolutely phenomenal condition compared to others of similar age. There are absolutely zero rips/tears/damage to the leather seats what-so-ever. The headliner has been custom done in black alcantara as well! This car also has the rare carbon fiber trim throughout, though some pieces have the typical hairline crack here/there. This is a HUGE plus for these cars
BRAKES: All brakes have been recently redone (new pads and rotors - <3k miles) all around the car, so there's plenty of meat left. Right now the ABS light is on. We are unable to communicate (through VAGCOM) with the ABS controller, which means it will more than likely need to be replaced. Additionally, the brake pedal is soft (air in the lines), which we believe is trapped in the ABS unit.
WHEELS/TIRES: The wheels are upgraded Ronal R38 wheels (17") with Audi center caps and practically brand new tires (tires have ~500 miles on them)!
SUSPENSION: This car has stock front shocks/springs and '92 UrS springs and Bilstein shocks in the rear.
ENGINE: The engine in this car had the entire top end rebuilt w/in the last 30k miles. The head was removed and completely redone (seals, etc.). While it was apart it was also upgraded w/ ARP head studs, 034 metal throttle cam (i.e. no longer worry that the plastic throttle body cam is going to break and leave you stranded), Apikol 1.8T coil kit (i.e. replaced old UrS coils with cheaper more recent coils), 034 Density street motor mounts, EFI Express hardened crank cog, and Samco hoses. I'm comfortable to say that the engine in this car runs like a top, and needs nothing anytime soon. Along with the head rebuild, all the normal timing belt maintenance items were also covered (water pump, belt, pulleys, etc.).
CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION: This car has a 5 speed manual w/ an upgraded clutch combo (7A flywheel w/ Southbend Stage 3 clutch/pressure plate).
PROS: Overall, this car is in great shape for its age. The interior and engine alone make this car stand out, despite the poor paint. It leaks no oil, and hasn't burned any to boot. It has been well maintained, and is a great starting point for a big HP project or a commuter.
CONS: The paint isn't great. While all the pads/rotors are new, as mentioned above - the ABS unit is on the fritz, and the brake pedal is spongy due to air in the lines (master was recently replaced and unable to get all the air out of the lines unfortunately). Also, the clutch lets out on the high side, but still grabs and holds strong. Also, as mentioned above, there is rust damage on the pass front fender.
I think that just about says everything I need about the car. If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to contact me. Car is available to test drive as well, but please --no tire kickers or spammers.
Thanks for your time!
