This 1961 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Series I is a rust-free California and Nevada car that comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) Certificate of Authenticity. A recent bare metal restoration has produced an crisp, clean example that can be driven, shown, and enjoyed!
The Bugeye is a numbers matching car with the original 948 cc, twin SU-carbureted motor, and rebuilt transmission. Every part on this car has been replaced or refurbished to like-new condition. It is completely stock, down to the positive ground battery, with the exception the upgraded front disk brakes and electronic ignition. The engine compartment is highly detailed and factory correct and the hood opens the proper way, using the correct original mechanism.
The car has been properly restored with a totally new factory style wiring harness complete with correct wire insulation. The car has new, chrome wire rims, full rubber Bridgestone tires, custom tonneau cover, new exhaust, etc. The undercarriage of the car is fully detailed and free from undercoating material.
All of the brake and suspension parts have been completely restored from front to rear and the resulting ride is nice and tight. The disc brakes are a welcome addition, especially if you have ever driven a Bugeye with factory drum brakes!
The interior is new, featuring new side curtains and new seat covers with period correct white piping. The gauges are a combination of repaired and replaced units, and the car has a new in the box convertible top which has never been used on the car and is in perfect condition. The Sprite also comes equipped with its original spare.
For British sports car enthusiast looking for a roadster to show and drive the look no further than this beautifully restored Bugeye Sprite.
