Description

1967 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK3 BJ-8 PHASE 2 SPORTS CONVERTIBLE. COLORADO RED WITH BLACK TRIM. 4-SPEED. 60-SPOKE WIRE WHEELS. 58K ORIG MILES. 2-OWNERS. EXCELLENT, NTOUCHED ORIGINAL CAR.
Offered for sale, rom KURT TANNER MOTORCARS is this lovely, riginal, nmolested, ever-been-apart, ate production Austin Healey BJ-8 for improvement. This car was produced approximately 750 cars from the end of the production line in the popular color scheme of Colorado Red with black Ambla trim and weather equipment. It has been untouched in storage for the last 40-plus years and was just purchased from the second owner, ho purchased the car when it was only 6 months old in 1968. It still retains it's pair of original issue black and yellow California license plates and it's 58,028 miles is believed correct. The CA title for this car is from 1968 and also includes the original sales contract!
The car has never sustained any damage and the underchassis rails are beautiful and straight, ithout the usual dings and dents that these cars are prone to. The undercarriage appears entirely rustfree and solid (except for the typical trunk floor rust) and panel gaps are factory correct. Even the front shroud pick up points and chassis crossmember look great. There is some very slight bubbling on the RH dogleg and rocker panel (picture). Grille fit is exceptional and the car still retains it's original Lucas headlamps, enses, riginal glass, ate octagonal knockoffs, tc. The car includes the loose parts pictured including it's rare and original jack.
The original engine turns nicely by hand. The previous owner parked the perfectly operating car during the early seventies fuel crisis to save costs. He rode his motorcycle from then on.
Overall, his extremely well-preserved 3000 MK3 is a rare California gem, eing an exceptionally straight and virtually rustfree 2-owner car. It is the perfect donor for a Concours restoration or is a great candidate to simply improve, fter getting it back on the road. The next owner can enjoy the fact of knowing his Austin Healey has all of it's original, actory sheetmetal! $34,750.
