Offered for sale is a very solid, riginal, unning and driving 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. This was an Oklahoma car for most of its life, nd the only rust on the car is a minor amount on the driver’s floor underneath the outer seat track (see photos). Sills, ockers, nd door posts are extremely solid. The original light blue paint can still be seen underneath the current color in many places. The exhaust still has the original bracket to the bellhousing! This Bugeye runs and handles very well and makes good oil pressure. It has a new wiring harness installed, ront disc brake conversion, ew belt, ew battery, nd new tires last summer. All lights work. The tach and speedometer are from a later Sprite and are not hooked up.
The bonnet has dents, nd the front lower fender and inner fender areas have been cut for some reason (see photos). The rear clip was repaired a very long time ago, nd a NOS tail section was used. The car was painted at that time, nd the paintwork is poor with cracks and flaking throughout. First and reverse gears are noisy, nd the transmission leaks some (I believe it is the rear seal).
This is a great opportunity to own a running driving Bugeye that could be a restore-as-you-drive project or simply left as is. Bugeyes in unrestored, olid, riginal condition are becoming extremely hard to find, specially a usable example such as this. Call or email Austin with questions. 712-301-9743.
