Introduced at the Geneva Auto Showin 1985, he first examples of this high-performance Bentley came to the US in 1989. At that time, otor Trend called it "the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name". The "R" stands for "roadholding" to help set it apart from its predecessor, he Mulsanne Turbo. With 300 horsepower, re-tuned suspension, front air dam and wider tires on alloy wheels (a first for Bentley), t became the highest performance model ever offered by Rolls-Royce/Bentley up to that time.
