A special car - only 1425 made it to America.
This is a beautifully maintained, and lovingly cared for 1995 BMW 540. The latest owner unexpectedly passed away, and I am listing the vehicle for sale as a service to his widow (I’m his brother-in-law, and shared his passion for 5-series BMWs). He certainly did not want to sell it. This one is quite special.
The car is not a Factory M-Sport 540i or M540i or M5. Rather, this is a special 540 E34 M60 6-speed that was only made in one model year. My brother-in-law had wanted one of these for quite awhile.
We have the Original Factory Print-Out when the car rolled off in Dusselldorf, dated 04/12/1995.
(The production date and VIN are too early to qualify as an M-Sport or M540i for all you collectors out there. But it's every bit as good.)
The latest owner viewed this car is as his performance daily driver. It is has been extremely dependable and very well-cared for. It has always been garaged. He always parked at the far end of the lot, away from everyone else to ensure no dings and no nicks.
It is very comfortable, very responsive, very tight, and very quick. The latest owner drove it with care to maximize it’s life, and to ensure his safety. Whoever gets this car is getting something very special. The following notes were taken from his diary for the car.
Everything works great with the exception of the following: the right rear electric window is erratic in responding to the switch, the side mirrors are currently adjusted manually instead of via the electric remote control, and the Blaupunk Radio/CD player did not turn on in my test (although it has historically worked well).
