These cars had been shown at the 1961 Frankfurt Auto Show and orders outpaced production for quite a while. The four-cylinder SOHC 1500 grew to 1600 cc and then 1800 cc in 1963 and 1964. In the U.S., importer Max Hoffman wanted something lighter, faster and cheaper and in 1967 he would get his wish with the introduction of the two-door 2000 series cars to later become the 3.0CS.
Here you have a rare 2000CS in good running and driving condition. Showing 96096 km = 60,000 miles, based on condition would say this could be original and correct but is not documented nor confirmed. The body is in good shape with no major rust / rot issues at all. Shock towers all around are clean as well the floor pans. Interior is in very good condition with only some cracking on the dash pad, beyond that very nice. Carpets, seats and headliner are in nice shape with no wear to be found. All the trim and parts are here if planning to redo the car. This car would be a great driver or base for a restoration.Drives smooth with no odd sounds or rattles. Pulls smooth and doesn't smoke or seem to burn oil and stops well.
Some of the things that stand out and need of some attention depending on what level of a car you are looking for. Panel fit is fair and could use attention, body is straight but has some waves here and there. The trunk will not latch and why it looks off. The paint could use a good sand and polish unless planning to re-paint it. The bumpers have been painted to match and grill is painted black so plan to have them chromed if not your thing. All the rear lights are not working and will need to be gone over, all there (housings and lens) but wiring needs to be gone over and sorted out. A going over on all lights on the car would be best. Look over the pictures and video and you should have a good feel for the car. Link below showing a big jump on value for these in the past years. I would put this car at a #3 - Hagerty showing $33,000.
