The engine is from Pete McHenry of Precision Performance in NC, who had put a 6 in a 318ti. I got the 318ti motor from him. It is a 1995 M42 motor. It now has about 80K on it. Carl Nelson of La Jolla Independent BMW did all the mechanical work. It has a 5-speed and a new floor pan.
Here’s some details:
Custom motor mounts & trans mount
custom shifter platform
cut, weld, rebalance driveshaft
move battery to trunk
install pump in gas tank, and second pump in engine compartment, and change fuel lines
remove brake booster, fab. new pedal box with remote booster
replace 95 computer with 94 so we didn't need to deal with the anti-theft system on the 95
fab. throttle linkage to cable throttle
Custom exhaust w BMW tii muffler
modify the serpentine belt and pulleys to eliminate the power steering pump
install a large M3, crossflow radiator w/required overflow tank
hybrid transmission up that will have a speedo drive (the 318ti got its drive from the diff)
Cut out the floor pan and tunnel, and install a larger one from a 320i to clear the new larger transmission.
fab a custom wiring harness and locate the computer under the dash
Recalibrate speedo to read accurately at a different cable rotational speed
Cut a hole in the front bulkhead for the K&N air filter.

Ireland engineering installed Moroso racing studs to replace the weak and too-short 2002 studs, and made custom spacers to place the wheels in just the right place.

The paint and body work is from South Bay Auto Body in San Pedro and the seats are from Bates Auto Upholstery here in Riverside.

Front camber
a couple of paint repairs
NOS Dashboard, Reissue one from BMW, or dash cover.
Crown the wheel studs (they are too long)
Find a way to make the tach work with this engine.
