Description

For sale is my lovingly maintained and cared for 1990 BMW 750iL black on black 5.0L V12 with 4-speed ZF automatic transmission. Mileage is relatively low at approximately 152800 miles. It is a US vehicle which I bought a year ago in WA and imported to BC. Since it was originally sold in the US and in any event is DOT and EPA exempt due to the 25-year rule bringing it back to the US will be very easy and straightforward. I am reluctantly selling only because I will soon move into the same building as my office in downtown Vancouver and therefore will very rarely drive. Those who are familiar with these cars know that they do not like to sit.

Clean Carfax report with no accidents or stories which I can email to interested parties. I believe I am the third owner. The car was sold new andspent the first few years ofits lifewith the first owner in California and the 2nd owner was a Microsoft employeein Bellevue WAwho owned the car from 1996-97 until I purchased it via a dealer in Seattle in June 2014.

This 750iLis in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. There are no known mechanical issues and absolutely no rust anywhere. I believe the paint is original and has aged very well with a great shine to it. There are a couple of difficult to notice very smalldents on the body and the odd tiny scratch here and there but it is a regularly used 25 year old car after all. The condition of the interior is simply amazing. Other than a minor crack in the driver's side door wood trim there are no flaws to note. The leather is supple and excellent front and back the partly leather-covered centre console and dashare in lovely condition and the headliner was replaced 5 months ago. Carpets and mats are flawless and there are almost new footrests in the back.

Features include power locks/windows/mirrors power front seats including headrests power reclining rear seats heated front seats cruise control dual zone climate control (a/c blows cold) tilt and sliding sunroof speed-sensitive wipers and rear sunshade. I don't believe the heated seats work and I have never tested the cruise control but everything else functions as it should.

The original radio and speakers work well the trunk-mounted CD changer does not and I have not tested the cassette player. Needless to say the analogue car phone does not work but it is certainly a conversation piece. The toolkit is complete and the spare wheel looks like it has never been used. The very cool factory flashlight is still in the glove compartment and works. No warning lights are illuminated as is usually the case with these sensor-filled cars.

Milo European Cars in Vancouver BC performed an engine-outservice in January 2015 which includedthe replacement ofvarious gaskets O2 sensors distributor caps and other items. The replacement of the upper oil pan gasket on the M70 engine requires removal of the engine (although some DIYers in the online community disagree) hence the engine-out service. I had the headliner replaced at the same time. The totalwas wasapproximately CAN$4500 for which I have the invoice. I have had the car fully detailed twice during my one year ownership with themost recentbeing last week. I will replace all four tires with new all-seasons before the end of the auction (I was advised that the tires on the car should be replaced due to age) and at the same time I will have the minor curb damage on the passenger-side rims fixed as well. I will provide the new owner with the receipt for the said work.

The car comes withthe owner's manual a Bentley service manual and a complete gasket set for the M70 engine which I bought online for approximately $450. I bought the gasket set before realising that most shops have a policy of not using customer-supplied parts.

In the interest of full disclosure the following arethe car'sfew glitches/quirks/faults: 1. Speedometer and tachometer work intermittently; 2. fuel economy fuel reserve and engine temperature needles jump around as if haunted when the engine is coldbut settle down after a short while and are in fact accurate; and 3. the passenger-side rear headrest pops up every time the car is started andwould haveto be lowered viaitsswitchif like me you are OCD and it bugs you.

These cars are hard to come by these days and exceedingly difficult to find in this condition. The 750iL wasif I am not mistakenGermany's first V12 and in my view a special car from BMW's best era. Serious bidders only please and I will gladly ask all questions.

I reserve the right to end the auction early.
