Description

Up for sale is this gorgeous 1982 BMW 633CSi, .k.a The Shark or, he Big Coupe.
This car is equipped with a rare manual 5-speed transmission. It is in unmodified and unmolested condition. As close to factory original as you will find.
This was BMW's top of the line halo car, uccessor to the legendary 3.0CS. These cars oozed class and delivered a driving experience that belied it's size. This is most notably evidenced by the fact that you could NOT get a manual transmission in a Mercedes 500SEC or 500SL. The Big Coupe is powered by a fuel injected silky smooth straight six displacing 3.2 liters putting out nearly 200 horsepower and and 240 lbs of torque. Lighter, aster and better handling than either of the big Benz two doors it earned its Ultimate Driving Machine moniker.
This car is in excellent running and cosmetic condition. It has a recent high quality respray and very nice bright work throughout. The glass is perfect. The windows and sunroof all open and close smoothly. The original blue leather interior shows only minimal wear. There are no rips, ear or stains. The dash, oor panels and headliner are in great shape. All of the lights, auges and instrumentation work as they should. The AC blows ice cold. There is currently an aftermarket AM/FM cassette player that sounds great through the tuner (cannot attest to the tape player as I am fresh out of cassettes). The power antenna is not working but is manually retractable. The original spare, ire tools and jack are intact and the tool kit is 95% complete. The wheels have been restored and are clad with brand new rubber.
There is lots of recent maintenance on this car with documentation to prove it.
This European Grand Touring car is a pleasure to drive. The motor pulls hard through the entire rev range and the transmission shifts like butter. The clutch is strong. It cruises at any speed in Germanic luxury. The seats provide plenty of adjustment and support during spirited driving and fatigue free comfort during long hauls. The suspension, teering and brakes are world class, ven by today's standards.
This a solid, irtually rust free three owner 79,000 mile car. The original Ziebart rust protection sticker still adorns the driver's side door jamb. This is as fine a driver quality E24 as you will find in North America.
These were $37,000 cars off the showroom floor. Today they are an affordable classic. Cars from the '80's provide a great opportunity to acquire and drive classic cars at bargain prices. Not all makes and models will ascend to high prices, ut well maintained cars that appeal to enthusiasts will likely deliver steady appreciation in the near and long term. This is one of those cars.
