Description

I’m selling the best ’88 M6 I’ve ever owned, nd years ago I owned an original from new. I purchased this car 18 months ago after a long search for the perfect candidate M6. I then fixed all the remaining problem areas and then added a killer stereo and radar system. Unfortunately, t’s time to downsize the car collection, o I’m selling the car.

Here’s the some of the comments from the person I bought the car from:

Original Texas car that was very well cared for, n great shape, nd has all of the service records since new.

Original window sticker and dealer invoice as well as the certification from BMW Group Classic Archives-Munich Germany.

Engine bay was de-cosmoline’d with full cosmetic restoration (just about everything was eitherreplaced,re-plated, rpowder coated)

ENGINE:

• Removed all cosmoline from engine bay.

• Replaced all hoses; powersteering, eater, uel lines, tc. All replacement parts are OEM BMW down to the hose clamps. Also had the air box, alve cover & air plenum soda blasted and powder-coated.

• Replaced coolant reservoir/cap & washer reservoir/cap along with new windshield washer lines and clamps.

• Mechanical work included fresh oil & filter, ew power steering fluid & filter, lush and refill coolant (OEM BMW), hecked valve lash (All within spec).

• Very rare, mpossible to find new original black Purolator air filter, hown in the pictures.

BODY:

• This is an original TX car, lways been garaged and never smoked in. I have never driven it in the rain. There isabsolutely no rust and the paint is in excellent condition with just a few nits and picks around the gorgeous body. No accidents or body work, owever the previous owner had the front airdam and hood repainted due to stone chips. The repaint looks excellent and is two stage withclear coat.

INTERIOR:

• The interior was in excellent condition when I bought it with only some minor wear on the drivers seat. The original dash is in excellent condition with no cracks. The rear deck & speaker pods are also in excellent condition with no warping. There are only slight signs of wear on the front drivers seat and there is a small tear on the driver’s side door armrest. The rest of the interior is in immaculate condition.

• Euro ashtray delete/storage tray (I have the original ashtray which will go with the car).

DRIVETRAIN:

• The drivetrain is in excellent condition with a smooth shifting Getrag 280 5 speed and limited slip differential. Trans. & Diff. fluid is fresh with Redline oils. New clutch and Auto Solutions shift kit (reduces throw distance by about 30%).

SUSPENSION & STEERING:

• Completely gone through. Front suspension has new upper & lower control arms, enter link, ushings and struts (Bilstein). Also, he steering box was upgraded with Ed Reather's (M Wrench) steering box reinforcement kit professionally welded in. Rear auto leveling suspension was rebuilt with new accumulators and lines and works perfect. Originally I was going to delete the original self leveling rear suspension but the original SLS shocks were in great shape with no leaks so I kept it original. Included is a rear suspension SLS delete kit with M-Tech springs, ilstein shocks, nd hardware.

• Period correct and very rare BBS RS wheels in 16"x7" wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE750 225/50 tires. The BBS's are show quality condition and the Bridgestones have less than 1,000 miles on them. I also restored theoriginal TRX wheels wrapped in the original style Michelin TRX GT tires (about 25% tread left) and these areincluded with the car.

BRAKES:

• Brakes have been freshened with new front rotors, agid pads and Stop Tech SS brake lines. Front calipers were rebuilt and re-plated in original cadmium plating. Accumulator (AKA Brake Bomb) was replaced. Rear brakes are stock and in excellent condition.

After I purchased the car, wanted it to be perfect, o took it to Peter Pan BMW and had the car completely gone through. Inevitably, here were items to be fixed.

WORK DONE:

Oil filter and change

Replaced oil seals on dipstick tube

Drivers seat internal weld broken, eat frame repaired

Replaced leaking A/C expansion valve and seals/recharged

Replaced sunroof motor and retimed drive

Replaced complete drivers door seal

Replaced all 3 exhaust hangers and repositioned exhaust

Replaced alternator bushings

Replaced leaking power steering hose

Replaced drivers door actuator and key cylinder

Total Repair cost: $5,962.95

Since I intended to really drive the M6, wanted a great stereo. However, wanted the ability to completely revert back to the working factory system with no dash modifications. Given the single DIN factory radio, installed a Pioneer flip out, VD, Pod, av system with 700 Watt 5 channel amplifier and all new, igh-end speakers.

Total Stereo/Radar install cost: $7,600.

The car comes with 3 large boxes of spare parts (see pics). Includes the self-leveling delete kit; period correct like new M-Tech II 385mm steering wheel; restored, riginal TRX wheels wrapped in the original style Michelin TRX GT tires (about 25% tread left); all original working stereo components; extra spark plugs, il filters, rake pads, istributor cap, D repair manual/parts book/torque values and 100’s of other misc. parts. Also includes new custom car cover.
