So to buy a car I like to know the history. Not only to know how it's been taken car of but to know the story of the life of a car, hat its been through, ow the last owners cared about it. Was it just transportation, way to save money on fuel, ore?
This car was purchased by my sister around five years ago when I was deep into the vintage BMW thing and she wanted to be a part of that. It wasnt a bad car by any means and had been kept up well just not at a factory spec. So at the time we went through and did all the usual tune up stuff (cap rotor plugs wires coil fuel filter oil..) and did that again about a year ago (with the exception of the oil which was done about a month ago). Over that five years she owned it we also had the timing belt done and the head gasket as well when we realized the gauge cluster didnt work.. The cluster was fixed with new gears and the mileage is estimated to be about 197k so about 10k milesunaccountedfor. The next thing was suspension and since it rode like a cadillac she wanted something sportier. H&R springs along with Koni yellow struts were installed as well as solid eyeball arms. Control arms werealso replaced and the center support bearing on the driveshaft while we were there.
The wheels and paint came last. The wheels are a kind of oddball one piece fittipaldi wheel, 6 inch, nd bear new tires all around. This car rides and drives better than many new cars Ive been in that cost three times as much. The paint was our first project together and while it didnt turn out mirror perfect its pretty close. I have prepped cars for many years for paint but this was my first respray. All the prep was done right and Nason base clear was used for color.
The only part of this car that I personally would change is the interior. The dash is a fresh crack free piece and was fitted not long ago with a new jvc cd player. The heat and ac were tackled at that time and work perfectly! Ive never been in a more comfortable old BMW. The front seats are the only argument. While they are sport seats the color is slightly different on the two.. this could be fixed but that brings us to the reason its for sale.
About half a year ago she bought an X3, o the car simply needs a new home. Whie Id love to own it I cant afford another car being an automotive horder myself.
Theres a TON Im forgetting to post here so if anyone thinks of something let me know, lease feel free to ask!
NOT SO FINE PRINT!!!
Weve all used ebay before, nd as a seller I apparently have to watch out for myself.
The car is listed locally so if it sells here.. the auction is over.If the auction ends and you are the high bidder the number in the little box is what you pay. There is no price negotiation afterwards.Ask ALL the questions you need to before bidding, f you dont contact me at all Il think you arent serious and cancel your bid.Once the auction is over Il require a 500 dollar deposit within 3 days and the car needs to be picked up and payed for within 30.
