1987 Buick Regal Turbo-T WE4 with 18k original miles and rare CF5 Astro-roof. Next to the GNX this is the second rarest Turbo Buick to come from Buick’s 1987 stable with only 1547 made. The Turbo-T WE4 is a rare car indeed sporting the looks of a Grand National minus some of the frills and heft. The car is a true factory lightweight with its manual adjustable seats, ear spoiler delete, luminum bumper supports and aluminum wheels, aturally making it a little quicker than a factory Grand National.
This particular example is in near mint condition and has been meticulously maintained. The paint on the vehicle is 100% factory original right down to the rock-guard on the lower portions of the panels. The car even has its original bumper fillers that are still pliable and un-cracked. While the paint on 80’s GM vehicles is usually something to be desired, his one looks exceptionally well overall and has been very well cared for. The interior is immaculate and the rear seats have never been sat in. The car even came with the rare factory trunk kit.
There have only been three owners of the vehicle including myself. This car has never been raced or abused. The previous owner had the car in his possession for over 15 years . That owner ran a Corvette restoration shop and took exceptional car of the vehicle both mechanically and cosmetically. This car has not seen water for over 17 years. One look at the under carriage and you know this is a fact. All of it’s exterior cleaning has been done by a professional steamer or waterless wash.
Upon taking possession of the vehicle, intended to enjoy it by both driving it and showing it. I also wanted to enhance the performance a bit to keep it a little more competitive with modern performance machines. That being said I only chose to perform modifications that could easily be removed in order to take the car back to 100% stock if so desired. None of the modifications to the vehicle are permanent and the original factory parts come with the vehicle.
I started by taking the car to the renowned Turbo-Buick mechanics at KDK performance in Orlando Florida. KDK went through the vehicle and changed every fluid while inspecting every hose and wire. The original plugs were changed and the factory plug wires were replaced with high voltage factory look –alike wires. The factory turbo and intercooler hoses were also replaced with high pressure factory look -alike hoses. Before adding any performance, he car was tested to be sure it was in proper factory tune.
From there, he following parts were added to the car; boost/vacuum gauge, can-master, tainless 3” dual exhaust, ” factory style downpipe, est-pipe, orted factory downpipe elbow, eavy duty rear springs, 00# valve springs, A low profile turbo 6 valve covers, nbsp;60 lb injectors, igh preasure fuel regulator, igh pressure fuel pump, otwire kit, inman cold air kit, S1 MAF sensor, ” aluminum MAF pipe, nbsp;MAF translator, LKY Control injection kit, nd finally a Turbo Tweak 5.7 91-93/Alky chip.
The car has been tuned to a modest 20 lbs of boost at wide open throttle on the factory turbo and intercooler showing O2’s over 800 with ZERO degrees of knock. The exact parts combination used in this vehicle has made enough power in other Turbo Buicks to go solidly into the 11’s. As I have stated before however, his car has never been taken to the track, aced, r abused. It simply has the added power and tune for modern fuel that one would desire if they were actually going to drive and enjoy it.
The car rolls on new BFG 235/60/15 tires in the front with Nitto 275/60/17 drag radials out back. This summer I replaced the battery with a new AC Delco unit along with a new power antenna and headliner. This car is ready to be registered and enjoyed day one. I am also throwing in a limited production die cast 1/24 scale replica of the car and a Wolfe car cover. The car comes with a treasure trove of original documentation including the dealer order sheet, indow sticker, anuals, il changes and more.
Please do not waste my time or yours with low-ball offers on the car. If you know what you are looking at, ou also know how rare this vehicle is especially considering that it has a factory installed CF5 Astro-roof. Some of the Buick experts believe that there may have been fewer than 10 WE4 cars made with it. The price that I am asking for is in by no means out of line when you take into consideration how much more people are asking for similar millage Grand Nationals when over 17K of them were made.
