Look around and I doubt you'll find a cleaner A-body with factory A/C than this!The turquoise color is pretty darned close to the original code K Aqua Mist, nd we have to admit that we love the look on this car. With the bright white vinyl top, t has a very upbeat look that's still grown-up, erfect for the sporting Buick. Styling was all-new in 1968, nd the dramatic sweeping crease that runs through the fenders, oors, nd quarter panels is designed to emulate the "sweep-spear" styling of the 1940s and '50s. It really works well here, specially with clean, traight bodywork that doesn't let any ripples or misaligned panels get in the way of the look. For a Buick, here's a minimal amount of trim, hich was optional, etting the clean, icely restored bodywork speak for itself. Both bumpers fit well with nice chrome, nd it's kind of nice to see that they didn't bother to try to dress this one up as a fake GS or something like that. Twin chrome strips down the trunk give it an upscale look and all the stainless trim has been buffed up to look great. You won't find many of these that have been treated as well as this one has.The bright white vinyl interior has a lot of new pieces and a few original bits, ll combining to make a comfortable, nviting driving environment. The white upholstery is complemented by black carpets and dashboard, o it's not overwhelming, nd with a fold-down center armrest, t's easy to get comfortable in the big Buick. A unique steering wheel should be familiar to long-time Buick fans, nd the gauges have cool white faces that were way ahead of their time. The secondary controls have a brushed stainless applique and it's nice to see that the A/C is fully functional with good old R12 inside. There's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash and it was neatly installed so nothing was cut or mangled, nd we especially like the Skylark's ornate door panels that recall the decorative pieces from the 1940s. There's also a big trunk that's tidy and clean and has nothing to hide.Buick's 350 cubic inch V8 is all about torque, nd this one with its two-barrel carburetor is a fantastic runner. Sure, ou could upgrade to a 4-barrel, ut I bet you wouldn't feel the difference and it's so smooth and easy to drive, 'd be afraid of losing that user-friendly nature. It's pretty original, ith Dante Red paint on the block and a big air cleaner up top, ut a weekend of cleaning things up would pay big dividends. It appears that the A/C system has some recent service work and it offers a nice V8 rumble from the single exhaust system. An automatic transmission was the most popular choice in the Skylark, hich really is a luxury car first and a sporty car second, nd with highway-friendly gears out back, ou can cruise for hours without feeling fatigued. The suspension is supple, he steering is smooth, nd with recent 205/75/15 radials on original Buick Road Wheels, t looks great and handles beautifully.You get a lot of car for your money with vintage Buicks, nd this Skylark is a great example.
