1973 Buick Riviera Boat Tail
History:
On January 20, 976, eorge B. Ruth purchased this Riviera from Herb Motors Inc. Since that day, r. Ruth kept a notebook in the car where he logged every maintenance record. Everything from new tires to radiators has been logged in this book complete with the date and mileage at the time of service. Records are kept from 1977 to 1987. The last inspection sticker dates to March of 1989. It’s an A/C car with front disc brakes. Options include: Bucket seats, horty console, ower driver’s seat, peed alert, M/FM radio, ruise control, ilt wheel, ower antenna, ower windows, ower door locks, nd power trunk release. This is a highly optioned car.
Mechanical:
When I got the car, he original engine was locked up. I pulled the numbers matching motor and replaced it with a 1970 SF 455. The mileage on this engine is unknown, ut it was very clean inside and looked to have low miles. The car starts and runs great. New parts include: water pump, NOS muffler, NOS resonators, xhaust from mid pipes back, nd a master cylinder. Brakes are good enough to stop the car driving onto a trailer. Tires have a lot of tread, ut are old. The transmission is original to the car. We have only driven it in and out of the garage.
Body and Paint:
The body on this car is remarkable for its age. Most of the paint is original. There is surface rust on the hood, nd trunk lid. The doors both have dents in them. The quarters will need work. The car is rock solid underneath. The frame, loors, nd trunk pan are in excellent condition. The bumpers are straight, ut need to be rechromed. Wheels are ok. The car comes with its original wheels and hubcaps as well. Please let the 120+ photos load. They document every angle of the car. Note: Pictures of the chassis were taken before exhaust was installed to give best view of floor pans.
Interior:
The interior is in excellent original condition. The seats are in great shape. The passenger bucket seat has a small rip at the seams. The driver’s bucket seat also has a small hole by the head rest. Rear seats are excellent. Dash pad is in excellent shape, icest I have ever seen. Carpet is OK. Headliner is in good shape. Steering wheel is uncracked, auges are clear. The driver’s door panel is cracked where they all crack. The passenger side is in good shape.
Misc:
All of the lights work on this car. All of the power options work except the power door locks and seat. The motors actuate the internals, hey most likely need to be oiled and worked. Even the radio works! This car comes with a lot of original paper work. Please see the photos.
This car can be driven and enjoyed as-is with very little work. It is also a great platform for an easy restoration or customization. Boat tail Rivieras are becoming harder to find and increasing in value. This is one of the most original cars I have ever seen. I have another ’73 parts car that can be included for an additional price. It is the same color combo as this car.
I encourage and welcome anyone interested to come see the car in person, ut please no tire kickers. Please email me any questions you have or if you need more pictures. I reserve the right to end the auction early. A $500 non refundable deposit is due 48 hours after the auction ends.
