Description
Photo gallery at the end of the listing. if it does not load. please send me a message for the direct link. Ebay does not allow direct links in the listing. Up for sale is my 1969 Buick GS400. It is a mostly original (except for paint) numbers matching true base GS400 with a Super Turbine 400 3 speed automatic transmission. It has the original interior. It originally came with a column shift and bucket seats but the previous owner installed a tilt column and console. It was my intention to return it to original but never got around to it. It has a factory AM radio with power antenna (a dealer installed option. verified by the original window sticker). The radio does not work. but the antenna does. It has a dash clock but that is not functional as well. The air conditioning works but has a leak. I can charge it at the beginning of the season and it will work great for a week. then get lukewarm for the rest of the summer. The car includes documentation including original window sticker. owners manual. bill of sale. Protect-O-Plate. and a pile of receipts for work done by previous owners. As near as I can tell. I am the 9th owner. I tried to track down a few previous owners. but the funny thing about Buicks is they are bought and driven by old men. All the previous owners have passed on. I'm the youngest. and I hope that's not some kind of omen :-)Things that have been changed from original:Installation of tilt column and floor shift/console by previous owner. Swapping of original front power drum brakes to power disc brakes by me for safety reasons. I still have the original drums and backing plates which are included with the car. Original front and rear control arms were swapped out with another set that were equipped with poly bushings at the same time as the brakes. Springs were swapped out as well with NPD heavy duty springs for a small block 1969 Chevelle. As a result the front sits about a half inch lower due to the extra weight of the 400 but I like the rake. It does cause the front tires to rub in a tight turn but in normal driving I never notice it. Original wheels and tires were swapped out with 15" Corvette rallies. also from a 69 Chevelle (I basically swapped in all the running gear from my 69 when I took it down for a resto. I'm going pro touring on that and so am buying all new stuff. Whatever original parts I still have for the GS are included in the sale). The rally wheels are period correct and were available as an option. although they would have been painted black and these are Argent Silver. I swapped out the Chevy derby caps for Buick caps. I originally used repro caps but they were not very good and I lost one. I had used the original rally wheel center caps when I created them. and I still have three and they are included with the car. I also still have the original 14" Buick rally wheels. and they are currently being used as rollers for another project. so if the buyer wants these wheels they will need to provide me with another set of rollers. or perhaps if the buyer has a decent set of 18" Boss 338s or something similar with tires. we can work out a deal on the original rally wheels. perhaps a partial trade with your nice wheels for the rally wheels and some extra cash. Recent repairs (well. recent enough. This is probably everything I've done to it in the last 6 years):New water pump - original style aluminum. not aftermarket cast iron. New power steering hose. New paint (in 2010)New front/back brake line from Right StuffNew repro Delco Moraine brake booster with the correct Delco stampA few new stickers here and there. new basic 2 1/2" aluminized exhaust with turbo mufflers from Summit. The ugly:The car is not perfect. It has a few things that need attention. It needs to have the bumpers rechromed and straightened. It has a chip and dent in the left fender from a jack handle that fell on it (and yes. I cussed like a sailor. a longshoreman. and a drunken archaeologist all at the same time when it happened). it needs some interior attention (dash bezel needs painting. AC vents need to be replaced or rechromed). it has oil leaking from the front seal on the oil pan that sprays all over the right side under the car. It probably needs to have all the vacuum lines replaced. too. The trunk floor needs to be spatter painted. It was rusty from the usual GM A-Body back window leak. and it has black SPI epoxy on it now. The car lives inside now so it's not an issue. It's got some small rust areas. There was some under the vinyl top which was repaired when it was repainted 4 years ago. There is also a quarter sized hole forming on the driver side floor pan. That's all I could find and isn't enough to worry about. at least for me. Also when they painted it they got overspray on the frame and exhaust. It will probably wipe off with lacquer thinner but I just haven't tried. The tires are good. but they are about 9 years old. You can see by the rear quarter panels that I have done my best to burn them off the car :-). Seriously though. it's not a quick car because has a 2. 89 or some such rear end. maybe a 15 second quarter mile. I was getting high 9s in the 1/8 at the local track. The battery is 14 years old. but I did the epsom salts trick a couple years ago and it holds a charge just like new. and checks out good on a test. but I plan on replacing it before the sale is finalized. Included with the car:All parts that I still have from swaps/upgrades. nice California car cover (that is for a full-size GM. so it's kind of big. but hey I got a stellar deal). the original rally wheels as long as the buyer can provide me with a set of GM bolt pattern project rollers with tires. ALL the original documents that I have for the car. and I'll also throw in a couple cases of Parts Master/Wix oil filters. The car is available for viewing on weekends or possibly week days with enough notice. This is a great car. I love it to death. but I'm moving in other directions with my car collection and I really only need one muscle car. It just sits. and it's a shame because it needs to be driven. And I can tell you. this car is happiest with your right foot to the floor. IMPORTANT TERMS AND CONDITIONS:1. You are buying to own. not for the right to view the car or to negotiate a better price. The agreed upon price is the price I expect you to pay. 2. Payment must be by cash or bank wire. No Paypal. personal checks or bank checks accepted. 3.
