This listing is for an incredibly sharp-looking, freshly-painted, 1979 Buick Regal V8.
About This Buick:
-According to original build sheet, this Regal was built at the Fremont, California plant and sold to Childress Buick Co. in Phoenix, Arizona.
-Car was traded in to a local Nissan dealership in 2014. One of the mechanics took the Regal and did the restoration on it over the course of the past 2 years.
-Title shows 30,408 Actual Miles. However, I think that is likely an error and the odometer has likely rolled over once. The previous owner, the mechanic who restored the vehicle, said that when the vehicle was traded in to the Nissan dealership, they were told by the prior owner that this was actual mileage and that the car sat parked for over 25 years. There is no documentation to support this. New owner will receive a title stating 30,408 Actual Miles. Mileage will go up as I'm driving this vehicle.
-AZ car its whole life.
Engine/Mechanical:
-4.9L/301 V8 runs strong.
-Auto transmission shifts well during slow acceleration and/or fast acceleration.
-Small engine oil leak, one small drop per night. Small transmission oil leak, one small drop every 3 or 4 days.
-Carburetor had previously been rebuilt. After attempting various adjustments to it, mechanic says it needs a new one to get rid of the occasional rough idle & hesitation that happens when it's extremely hot outside (100+ F). New OEM 2-Barrel Carburetor has been ordered and will be installed within the week. When it's not hot outside, car idles smooth.
-Car has A/C that works (more on that below); however, when it's extremely hot outside the car occasionally stalls when at a stop light, only if the A/C is on. If the A/C is not on, then there are no issues. In the past 3 weeks & 1500 miles driven, this has happened 3 times. Mechanic states that the new Carburetor will resolve this problem.
-Power-steering pump makes a wheezing sound when steering wheel is fully cranked to the left or right. As long as it's not fully cranked, there is no sounds coming from it.
-New alternator
-New fuel pump
-Some new suspension components, just aligned, drives straight
-Car drives 80mph on the freeway without problems
Body:
-Amazing fresh black paint with 3 coats of clear coat. I'm not an expert in this but I was told by two different body-shop guys that this type of paint job would cost no less than $3500 and as much as $5000.
-I would describe this as a 2-footer paint job. It has some imperfections but only when you look closely.
-New rear bumper fillers
-Front bumper fillers were not replaced. You can still see some of the cracking below the fresh paint. To make this a proper show car, fillers should be replaced.
-Car was originally baby blue. You would not be able to tell. Everything had been removed prior to repaint. There are no traces of the baby blue anywhere.
-Window weatherstripping does not align perfectly with the windows on the doors, leaving a small gap through which you hear wind-noise and through which water can get through. The issue is that when the metal tracks to which the weatherstripping adheres to were removed by the body-shop, they were not re-installed in the correct place. Removing these metal tracks and re-installing them a few millimeters closer to the windows should create an air-tight seal.
-New door weatherstripping, new trunk weatherstripping
-Window-wipers are not installed. Have originals.
-Hood ornament is there and the grill shows Buick Regal. The rest of the Regal badging was not reinstalled on the body, giving the car a sleeker look.
-Newer OEM wheels from a Turbo-Regal. New BFG Radials installed in 2014 at the same time as the wheels. Tires look brand new but have about 2000 miles on them.
Interior:
-New headliner
-New carpet
-New upholstery on the front seat. Just the cloth portion was replaced. The vinyl is original. The upholstery on the back seat is fine structurally but shows up as a slightly lighter shade of baby-blue. Not very noticeable.
-Dash is in good shape overall. Has a crack on the passenger side. Covered by new carpet dash-mat.
-Many of the plastic panels on the interior are new and have been freshly painted. Previous owner painted the plastic panels himself, but the prep must have not been perfect because there are small areas where the fresh paint is peeling.
-Interior door panels are original and are quite weathered. They would need to be replaced to make the interior look nicer. Panels are available on gbodyparts.com.
-B-pillar interior panels are also original and quite weathered. I attempted to restore them myself without replacing them. They look bad but are there in matching color. They would need to be replaced to make the interior look nicer. Panels are available on gbodyparts.com.
-A/C blows cold but only blows through the window vents and the foot vents, not the dash vents. I've been told this is an easy fix but haven't had a chance to look into it.
-Original AM Radio is currently installed and works. The car is pre-wired for a new stereo, amp, speakers, & subwoofers. All the wires are there, just install your equipment and it should be ready to go. Since I haven't had an aftermarket stereo hooked up to car, I cannot guarantee that the wiring will work, but it is there.
-There is a noise coming from behind the speedometer that is rather annoying if you have the windows up and radio off. This noise is common to GM vehicles and is an easy fix once you get behind the dash. If your windows are down or you have music playing, you will hardly notice the noise. The best way to describe the noise is a rattle.
-All lights work, cigarette lighter works
-Window wipers aren't installed, can't tell if they work or not.
-Tinted windows
