Seatbelts-Front SELLER REMARKS If you've been-there. done-that with Fords and Chevys. how about something a little bigger and bolder like this all-steel 1934 Buick Series 60 Victoria coupe. Only 1935 were built in 1934 and with big block power. it more than lives up to Buick's reputation for performance and luxury. OK. so the bright red paint isn't subtle. but the look is simply gorgeous. The impossibly long hood on this Buick makes for dramatic proportions regardless of the color. and while the build is approaching 30 years old. it still makes a dramatic statement everywhere it goes. It's got signs of use. but that's to be expected on a car that works this well and it also means that you can have one heck of a hot rod for not a lot of money. The 1934 Buicks were also some of the most attractive cars on the road. with painted radiator shells and flowing fenders that seem to work especially well when the car is lowered and fat tires are stuffed underneath. It includes all the wonderful '30s details such as driving lights. large trumpet horns. cowl lamps. and delicate little taillights on chrome stalks. The rear-mounted spare was removed during the build. which probably helps with access to the trunk. and it was carefully reassembled so everything fits pretty darned well. There's a tan roof insert that matches the interior. which is a neat custom touch that most folks will never notice. And everything that is chrome or stainless is in good condition with a nice shine. The tan leather interior was state-of-the-art in 1985 and still looks great today. Comfortable buckets are appropriate for a senior Buick like this and the back seat offers plenty of room for passengers. The nearly flat floor makes the interior feel especially roomy. making this a car you can drive long distances without feeling claustrophobic. Custom door panels were created to match the seats and the headliner is an attractive suede-like material that also hosts an overhead console with the stereo system built in. A late-model tilt column is fitted to the original dash. which is now full of cream-faced dials from Classic Instruments. A custom A/C system is installed under the dash and the garnish moldings and dashboard are nicely woodgrained to warm things up a bit. The trunk is deep and wide enough for your baggage on road trips and it's as nicely finished as the rest of the interior. Buicks are big cars and to move this much sheetmetal. you need a big engine. It comes in the form of a 454 cubic inch Chevy V8 that moves the big coupe without ever seeming to work very hard. It was clearly detailed for show when it was completed. but now shows signs of age and use that only mean it's sorted out and ready to enjoy. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold help build power and are easy to tune. while stock cast iron exhaust manifolds control noise and heat to make it a comfortable long-distance cruiser. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear end. so everything is easy to service and virtually bulletproof. The independent front suspension is from a late-model of some sort. so it offers disc brakes and power steering and the stance is exactly right. Old-school aluminum wheels are fitted with staggered 215/70/15 front and 255/70/15 rear blackwall radials. This is a lot of car for not a lot of money. and. it's so close to once again being a dominant show-stopper. Wouldn't you rather drive a Buick?
