Exterior
Paint is dull and showing cracks in places, the majority of the rust is confined to the roof but there are some spots of worn paint throughout the body that also have surface rust. Spots found in the body where rust has gone through completely, a small spot at the bottom front of the rear passenger door and a similar section on the rocker below the driver rear door are the biggest problem areas in the body, metal around rear glass at the bottom is quite rusted. Chrome and stainless appears complete along with the more desirable early grilled hood ornament.
Interior
Seats have been reupholstered and are in great shape. Floors have been repaired where rust has gone through with fiberglass and sealant has been applied to the flooring to stop any further rust. The remainder of the interior is original and shows age and use from the past 59 years.
Mechanical
This is a well optioned car with power seat, dual exhaust (with correct bumper guards), power steering and windows. Engine runs well and is original, not rebuilt. Transmission has been serviced and is shifting well. Radiator has been serviced, master cylinder and voltage regulator were recently replaced. Tires including the spare are also relatively new. A set of ’55 Century door panels with trim as pictured is also included, along with the seat trim pieces for the adjustment switches. Engine was originally fitted with a two barrel, but was replaced with a four barrel intake and carburetor.
This wagon makes an excellent presence and is a joy to drive with all of the power options. This would make an excellent restoration candidate or leave it as is for that wonderful patina look.
