Description

----1972 Buick Riviera GS Gran Sport Stage 1 boattail---Excellent candidate for a resto-mod. low rider or restore to original. THIS CAR IS 43 YEARS OLD AND WILL NEED A TOTAL RESTORATION TO BE A DEPENDABLE SHOW CAR!!! FIRST THE POSITIVE: This car is a true GS Gran Sport Stage 1. This can be verified by two simple references-- The GM VIN Decoder (google) and the Riviera Owners Association website. Click on "evoloution and stats"-- "I. D. a Gran Sport". -- In Part 3 1972-1973 It clearly states that the Gran Sport came with a chrome air cleaner lid. GS emblems located under the Riviera script behind the front wheel wells. a posi-track rear end and the "W" engine code denoting a Stage 1. THIS CAR HAS ALL OF THE ABOVE AND IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY THAT WAY. Some people claim that the VIN must show a G code in the second digit of the VIN to be a Gran Sport- and this is true for the the Skylarks. GSX's and other Buicks. The Riviera's used a "Y" series code in the second digit--Otherwise-- how else could the VIN identify a Riviera from a Skylark!! The "W" engine code is the telltale identifier for the GS Stage 1. The Car has been in storage since 1995. Clear Montana title. 68k original miles. strong. smooth. clean running 455 - doesn't smoke in fact I was so impressed by the way this engine runs- that's why I bought the car in the first place. Extremely nice body/grill---no rust---no dents---1 scratch LF corner (see photos). Car is done in lime green with no clear coat (I don't know why they didn't clear coat it). Very nice original white vinyl top. Front windshield will need to be replaced but all other glass including rear boat tail is very nice. All chrome door/dash hardware/switches/knobs are intact. Car runs. nbsp;drives and brakes--- engine. transmission. drive train and body are solid. Drivers door handle is broken but I found a nice replacement and it will be fixed by auctions end. ITEMS THAT WILL NEED ATTENTION: Dash and door panels are cracked (see photos). A/C not functioning-compressor is intact. Some electric windows not functioning. nbsp; Car needs a good cleaning from years of storage dust! If you are looking for a boat tail Riviera to build. this car is a solid- unmolested foundation with straight body lines. no dents. no rust. strong 455. nice glass. nice chrome and only 68k miles. --- AS ALWAYS. MY LISTING PRICE IS MY RESERVE--ONCE MET THE CAR WILL SELL! I have a 100% feedback rating and intend to keep it. I HAD TO RELIST THIS ITEM DUE TO NON-PAYMENT -- ONLY BID IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. TRANSPORT IT AND REBUILD IT!! Car is located in Miles City. Montana (near Billings). $2000. 00 Paypal deposit required within 72 hours of auction- balance due upon transfer of vehicle & title. Thanks! On Mar-26-15 at 13:54:09 PDT. seller added the following information:I have received several questions that don't appear on the listing: Yes-This is a local dry Montana car. I knew the owner back in the late 70's / early 80's and remember seeing it driving around Miles City. It's original color was hunter green. Yes- car is driveable -it now has a good set of goodyear tires mounted on the original Riviera rims --however-- bear in mind -- belts. hoses and fluids etc. should be changed before a long distance trip. Trailering would be the safe bet. Yes- it has the original GM shoulder/lap seat belts for driver and front passenger. The steering column tilt has been professionally repaired to like new condition- perfect/tight function through the range of arc divits. (nice!). The headlight surrounds/bezels are missing. they were not with the car when I purchased it. Thanks--
