Evolve Motors is pleased to present our client’s 1966 Cadillac Calais Coupe!

What began as a loaded 1966 Calais coupe has since been transformed to look and behave more like a Coupe De Ville. This ’66 Calais was originally optioned with power windows and AC which make it rather unique. You dont often see the power window and AC option because that is pretty much what set it apart form the De Ville models, ther than leather seats. So to make up for the shortcomings of this solid ’66 the previous owner went ahead and made some nice upgrades which included a leather interior to make it just like a Coupe De Ville. Repainted and re-worked sometime in the last 10 years this car really shows nicely.

The body is nice and straight and only has a few blemishes. We note the left front fender has a light impact on the leading edge possibly from turning a tight corner in a garage. The paint work looks good and we give it a B in paint quality. The panels are straight and show some light dings here and there. The paint itself looks pretty good and consistent. We detect a couple minor paint runs here and there but nothing of concern. We also not some minor rubber moulding drying but it is consistent with the overall quality and shows nicely. The rockers, uarters and fenders all show rust free. The door panels, runk, nd hood all show nicely and line up as good as you could expect on a ’66 caddy. The trim, ezels, hrome, ights, nd glass all show nicely throughout. The wheels leave a little left to be desired and are poor representation for this caddy. They would be the first thing to go if I was to own the car. We also note the hood latch cable is missing so it currently is held in place by the safety catch only. Werecommendrepairing this right away. We believe these wheels were put on as an afterthought as the car would look a lot better with a nicer wheel and tire package. The underside looks nice and solid as you can see in the pictures. This car is a great driver and really looks nice cruising down the road.

Inward, he interior has been redone in leather. The seats look fantastic and really show minimal wear leaving us to believe that they were recently redone. The dash looks nice and complete and shows good patina. There is minor wear noted on parts like the steering wheel and other hardware. Overall it shows very nicely. This car was originally optioned with Power Windows which was a rare option on the Calais coupe. The AC system is present however it will need to be serviced (the pump turn smoothly however we assume it is down on refrigerant). The interior is SMOKE-FREE. The headliner looks good, s do the carpets, witches, andles, tc…. The seat belts were left in their original sandalwood color and look a little out of place over the black leather. The trunk is nice and dry and the carpets look clean and stain free. You cannot help but appreciate the interior on this Caddy!

Under the hood sits what we believe to be the original 429 CID V8 with all her standard features. The car was stored in a garage for a number of years and while it was started regularly we do recommend servicing it before putting it on a road trip. Under the hood looks complete and functional however we do note that the choke assembly has been removed from the carburetor. Backing the 429 CID is an automatic transmission which shifts in and out of gear nicely at stop and gets through the gears nicely under acceleration. The trans does have a pretty healthy leak and we notice a good amount of fluid on the ground after 5 days. It will need to be addressed and is more than likely a seal. The 429 is a runner however it would benefit from plugs and wires and we recommend having the carburetor serviced, ince we know the choke is missing. The power steering and power brakes work as the should. Again, e make no guarantees and encourage the buyer to ensure that the brakes, ires, nd mechanicals are road worthy before driving it anywhere. The wheels and tires are in need of being replaced although they do hold air and have tread left. The owner detected a small trans fluid leak overtime so we topped it off and haven't noticed any concerning leaks. This Caddy will make a great driver with only a little attention!
