1990 Cadillac Brougham D'Elegance
40,300 miles. Private sale. We are the 3rd owners. First was a University Hospital Surgeon that special ordered the car. We bought it from the wife of an 85 year old man who could no longer drive. I have been an enthusiast and collected Cadillac's for many years. When we found this car, I couldn't have been more overjoyed. We drove a long way to go get it. I couldn't have been more excited. My wife particularly loves this style. She describes it as "fancy", and loves the quintessential De Niro mobster look. For me, it was the pinnacle of this model. 1990-1992 are well known by collectors as the years of this particular body stylingto have.
By 1990, all the well known previous "bugs" were worked out, and the ultra reliable drivetrain consisted of the GM's tried and true Chevy small block V-8. The standard engine was the 305 (5 litre) but, this particular car has the optional 5.7 litre, 350 cubic inch, V-8. Very very few of these cars can be found with the larger 5.7 liter engine because very few were built. I'm told less than 3% but, cannot confirm this number. There was a $1300.00 Federally imposed gas-guzzler tax placed on the cars with the 350 engine. Ironically, the real world results show that theyused less fuel than the305 engines. These last gen cars with the 350 are the rarest, and GOLD amongst collectors.
Speaking about rare, and gold......
This car has the ultra rare Gold Package option!
The emblems and select trim pieces are plated in 24 Karat gold. This was done by GM, and among the rarest of factory Cadillac options to have. For the last 2 years of this iconic body style, Cadillac threw every opulence they could at these cars but, having the actual option of FACTORY 24 KARAT GOLD emblems and trims was the icing on the cake.
Actual mileage......
In 1990, a digital gauge readout was also available. This is a very good thing. I've previously driven many distances to view "low mileage" Cadillac's, only to find misrepresented cars with rolled over 5-digit odometers. The mileage on this car is true, and accurate. It is displayed digitally. It isa God's honest premium vehicle in remarkable condition. I'dgive it to my ownparents if they wanted it.
History....
The car was special ordered by a Doctor/Surgeon at the University Hospital. During it's lifetime, it was vandalized by thieves. The emblems were pried off and stolen. During this, the grill was damaged while someone tried to steal it, and the vinyl roof damaged (when the emblems were stolen). There were some scratches, and the rare crystal tail light lenses were cracked when the emblems were stolen. The insurance company sold the car to an elderly gentleman and Cadillac aficionado. He ordered all new emblems, grill, and had the vinyl roof replaced. The car was taken to the dealership for a new paintjob and recertification. Evidently, the emblems are very valuable, and the car required recertification due to the associated value. In addition to the pry marks and light scratches, there were parking lot dings. The new owner wanted nothing short of 100%. He was very specific about how he wanted things done, and had them remove every bit of chrome and trim, then repaint the car, exactly to code. I met the man and his wife. Let me tell you... I thought I was fastidious. These people are fussy! This was his dream car. His wife had a FWD Cadillac DeVille, and they had another FWD Cadillac they shared. Evidently, they also had a rare Eldorado Convertible that was her special car; which they sold several years prior. This RWD Brougham D'Elegance was his special car. It was driven only for occasions, and real enjoyment on the nicest days. When we had bought the car, he was 85 years old, and not terribly impressed that he was no longer allowed to drive. I travelled quite far to get the car, spent a few hours talking with them, and think he felt better that it went to another "Cadillac" family. It's really a beauty and a great conversation piece. We had others but, this one was always the king. It's absolute '90's opulence - The last of it's kind.
Investment......
Since we've owned the car, it has hardly been moved. We've loved it but, it's sat covered in our garage, only driven occasionally to keep fluids circulated. It's been nice to own, and something we've been very proud to show off,but we have just not effectively used it enough. A while back, we made a conscious decision to downsize, and sold almost all our collector cars; having kept this one till the very end. The paint looks truly spectacular in all different lights. It's a very sharp looking car with tons of presence. We have had it professionally wetsanded and tri-stage polished to a remarkable sheen and lustre. The interior is just as fresh and plush as showroom new. It's hard to believe this is a generallyunrestored25 year old car. The rarity, (along with mileage, and condition)should make it an excellent investment.
Tough decision....
Wow.... Even writing this, I'm having 2nd thoughts. Something inside is saying that I should be keeping it. As mentioned, I think it'll really be worth something in upcoming years. It's been a great conversation piece. Jeesh...... Please buy this car before I change my mind!
Iinvite anyone to come seethe carin person. We've made great friends with people that have come to visit. I promise full hospitality. My wife and Iwillmake any concessions and arrangements to help out. I'd encourage 3rd party inspections, and prioritize helping there as well. If you'd like to speak on the phone, I'd look forward to hearing from you. Please write to arrange. I can even start the engine for you to hear. I've had many nice cars but, have been particularly proud of this Cadillac and it's matching red garage-brother. I've already sold the red one. This one's the last to go. As mentioned, please check my feedback. You'll see, I have been bang-on exact with my descriptions, and Mr. Helpful with getting things done. My reputation is honesty and, Ithink you'll be very happy.
Must sell. Moving, downsizing. Offers are welcome. If you are interested, and have an offer, I'd encourage you to send it. People continuously seem surprised when I close an auction early to accept an offer.
Have fun bidding, and good luck fellow enthusiasts!

Car is a 1991.Not a1992. Seemingly insignificant and exact same model but, a 1991 is over 25 years old and is exempt from any shipping restrictions.
