The entry level Series 62 was launched in 1940 to find a new market for Cadillac. While focusing on a smaller chassis. Cadillac still offered big V8 torque and luxury amenities. just on a reduced and less expensive scale. The first post-war 62 was introduced in 1948 but the big news came the following year when Cadillac replaced the existing 346ci Monobloc V8 with their new 160 horsepower overhead valve 331ci V8. Big news came again for 1950. with dramatically redesigned proportions to elude a lower. longer and wider stance. in addition to a new one-piece windshield. Standard for 1950 was Cadillac’s excellent four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. ensuring both swift acceleration and silky smooth gear changes. They set a new sales record in 1950. with 59. 18 cars built! Of these. 41. 90 were four-door sedans! We are excited to offer this 1950 Cadillac Series 62 4-door Sedan! The car is finished in its original color scheme of 1 – Black over two-tone 40 – Gray Bedford Cloth / Gray Plain Cloth. per the original trim tag on the firewall. Under the hood is the original 331ci OHV V8 engine (producing 160 horsepower and 312 lb. -ft. of torque with 7. 5:1 compression) mated to a date-correct Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission that is likely also the original. Power is transferred to the ground via a standard 3. 36:1 rear end. The restoration including paint. chrome and interior was completed prior to his purchase. with the rest of the car remaining largely original! The engine was detailed by us and shows extremely well. as does the undercarriage. where it is easy to see that suspension. braking. steering and other components have seen regular service and replacement when necessary. The car also has a new exhaust rear section and muffler. All exterior glass is original LOF Safety Plate.
