Cadillac's post-war production was limited to only 8 months in 1948, however the Series 62 four door sedan would account for nearly 24, 00 of the model line's 34000 units sold. 1949 would bring the fabulous new overhead valve V8 engine and increased sales across the board. The interior is beautiful. The upholstery was just restored with this tasteful 2-tone broadcloth and felt type upholstery. The door panels and headliner are very well done.1949 would offer a stylish line of fabrics and a redesigned instrument cluster. The dash retains the correct speedometer gauge cluster and beautiful bright work. The vintage steering wheel is simply superb, paired with the rim blown horn. The original radio is in place but not currently working. The dash lighting is working. The back seat is especially inviting, check out the retracting arm rest. This engine compartment is detailed for show. The mechanicals are strong. Cadillac's 331 cubic inch overhead valve V8 engine made its debut in the 1949 model year. This stout cast iron block housed 5 main bearings and was factory rated at 160 horsepower. These cars were relatively quick for their time. This example is a true pleasure to drive and will keep up with modern traffic quite well. This engine was a very substantial upgrade in design and performance from the previous generation's anemic engine. This car is optioned with Cadillac's Hydra-Matic automatic transmission that shifts firmly. The automatic transmission would not become standard equipment on the Series 62 until the following year model.Further inspection of the engine compartment reveal correct decals and equipment throughout. The external oil filter is in place along with the heavy duty oil bath air cleaner. The engine has been restored in its correct colors. The windshield washer reservoir is intact as well. The firewall, inner fenders and core support show well. The body style and trim plate is intact and in excellent condition. The Cadillac's owner card is also in place as is the plastic door tag.1949 would be the 2nd year of Cadillac's P-38 aircraft inspired tail lights. Fittingly, this Caddy was photographed at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. Be sure to visit the historic museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas. The fuel fill is hidden under the passenger side tail lamp, a clever design feature of the time. The '49 Cadillac appeared wide and low, much of this was attributed to the redesigned front grille assembly that spanned the width of the front end, fender to fender. The exterior chrome & trim is just beautiful throughout this Cadillac. The factory wheels showcase full Cadillac wheel covers are have been fitted with newer Firestone Deluxe Champion Wide Whitewall Tires all around, including the trunk mounted spare. These wheels and tires are the perfect combination for this remarkable car.The trunk is detailed to show and in excellent condition, complete with a matching spare tire/wheel and jacking equipment. The door undersides are in very good condition. The undercarriage is a further testament to the well cared for condition of this Cadillac. The suspension has been previously rebuilt. There is some minor surface rust and a few repairs. The original frame is intact throughout. This is a very solid car.The dual windshield panes are believed original and in great shape. The windshield wipers are also functional.Enjoy our remaining photos and again feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions.PHOTO SLIDESHOW BELOWPHOTO SLIDESHOW ABOVE
