The 1956 Cadillac was touted by Cadillac as "the most inspiring motor cars the world has ever seen". While there were ~41,000 of this model sold, only a few have survived and of those survivors only a hand full have been restored. This is truly a rare automobile!
This car was owed by one owner until 1988 (44,092miles). It then passed through2 own owners and I purchased the car (Sept of 2003) with 47,000 miles.
The restoration was complete in Sept of 20012.
The car was stripped to bare metal and "blocked" several times and painted with original factory colors.
The interior fabric was restored to original factory patterns (with upgrade to leather trimrather than vinyl).
Exterior and where required, nterior chrome and stainless was restored (all stainless and chrome is original)
Complete new wiring harness.
All electronics restored (clock, ignal-seeking radio, peakers front and rear, utronic eye, uto antenna, window and seat motors original), tarter and generator).
All new glass tinted to factory specs.
Engine and transmission overhauled.
Front end restored.
New Diamond back tires with raised white walls installed.
Original Saber rims and caps (didn't restore these)
Non Factory enhancements:
Disc Brakes on front
Vintage air
Blue tooth radio
Seat belts
The cost of restoration far exceeds the price, owever, fter 12 years, t is time for the Caddie to go.
Some minor remaining restoration work (I am currently working these items).
