"The swan song of the solid axles." When the '62 Corvette was introduced, any in the "know" were excited to see what was in-store when the all new '63 Sting Ray got introduced the following year. So much so, hat the '62 kind of got lost in the hoopla. But even with the anticipation of the '63 at a fever pitch, he '62 got some well-deserved accolades, s well! In its last year of production, here were some significant changes made to the solid axle! Most notably, he introduction of the 327ci small block engine. This power plant but out 250hp in is base form and went all the way up to 360hp in the fuel injected version! On the visual side, he two-tone paint scheme was discontinued and the stainless trim around the side coves was deleted in favor of a smother look. The "cove" was still there, ust not as pronounced. In place of the trim was a ribbed rocked panel molding below the doors. The side vents were also changed to single units and the optional whitewall tires went from wide to narrow. This was also the last year for a trunk until the C5 Convertible was introduced in '98.
This '62 would bring back fond memories for anyone who was a fan of the T.V. Series "Route 66" as it's very similar to the last Corvette driven during the series run. The car has been completely restored to show quality, ell sorted mechanically and is an absolute blast to drive! Fawn Beige is one of the prettiest colors to ever grace the fenders of a Corvette! And if you add in the rare matching Fawn interior, ou've got extraordinary '62 that will turn heads everywhere it goes! Not to mention the matching #'s solid lifter 340hp engine mated up with a 4-spd trans. This was and is one of the best drivetrain combo's ever offered in a Corvette! One trip behind the the wheel is all that needed to convince you! So, on't hesitate to try this one on for size before it's outta here! Todd and Buzz would be so proud!
