This vehicle (M1009) and two others were purchased through government liquidation in 2007 at the Army depot outside of Harrisburg, A. Tires were upgraded to rock tires with aggressive traction design. New, ebuilt injectors were installed along with new heavy duty batteries from Walmart. I kept the best condition body and sold the remaining two vehicles. A yellow hazard roof light was added as I used this truck to go to construction sites in North Carolina. New belts and cables have been replaced as needed, ncluding new tailgate cables and battery cables. This was a headquarters radio truck and has two alternators and enough amperage to light a small city! (almost). Military vehicles are all 24 volts. The Blazer was modified to have two 12 volt systems that when combined give the 24 volts required by the military. With the exception of a few stickers like an "Area 51" pass the truck is in original condition, would characterize it as good to very good condition with the only repairs needed being three slightly rusted sheet metal areas all shown in the pictures.
What can I say about this truck? First of all, t is a bruiser, have gone through river sand up to the axles and never got stuck. In 4 wheel low it is a stump puller. Very seldom have I needed to shift into 4 wheel except when hunting or during big snow. These trucks were built with thick steel bodies on a truck frame. My future plans were to replace the shocks, epair the small rust holes and do a frame off paint job leaving it original, s they are becoming more scarce each year. Most of these vehicles have been replaced in the military inventory as they are approaching over 30 years old. The original pintle hitch was replaced with a combination pintle/ball hitch so I can pull the 1.5 ton trailer or my boat, s needed. If you hunt, he gun rack (2 rifles or shotguns) behind the driver's seat is pretty handy. This truck gets really remarkable mileage. On the highway it averages between 22 and 24 mpg! Original papers and first aid kit are in the glove box. I have the complete set of maintenance manuals on a CD that will go with the truck to it's new home. Tires are better than 50% except for front passenger tire which I discovered uneven wear when taking it in for balancing, otation, nd alignment. Original Goodyear Military tire @ 100% is spare carried in cargo compartment.
We spent a great 4th of July one year at a camp next to the Mississippi River. I loaded two kayaks on the roof of the trailer, wo ten person tents, hairs, arbecue, ix coolers, keg of beer, ags and bags of groceries, addles, ife preservers, olding chairs, about 15), leeping bags, ug spray, nd air mattresses into the trailer, ut the guns in the Blazer, our passengers, wo dogs, everal very unruly children and drove over the levy through the muddy woods to a beach where we met other friends who came by by boat. It was a hoot! I have purchased a 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII which is being rebuilt with a Cobra 4.6 engine and upgraded parts. I can only afford one project at a time so my beloved Blazer will be finding a new owner and a new home. I only hope the new owner enjoys it half as much as I have. The 6.2 is a little cold blooded in the winter so a small shot of ether (just a touch: you don't want to hurt the engine) will get her going on any below zero day.
The trailer has a 6' x 9' bed and the wooden grate allows you to pack it up to the roof with gear. Look at those tires, ou cannot overload the trailer. It has a green canvas top, ot shown, hich needs some tie down ropes replaced but otherwise is in good condition. Both handbrakes and the front wheel all work. The connector to hook up the air brakes to a 6x6 truck is included but you will need a new hose if you have an army truck you want to hook it up to. Original multi pin plug connects to the M1009 for legal lights.
Title for Blazer is free and clear, will give you a notarized bill of sale with VIN # as a "salvage trailer" which is all you need in most states for a trailer, ome states you must call it a "home made" trailer. Originally I was going to ask $9,000 for both but I cut $1,000 from the price to help with repair of the rusted areas. Most parts are Chevy truck and are available at your local auto parts store. I have been told I should be asking more for this rig but I believe that both the truck and trailer are a good buy at the "Buy it now" price of $8,000.
