'68 Camaro SS 396/350hp 4 speed, orvette Bronze, 00% Numbers Matching, ocumented!
Quality Matrix Summary: Principal Use, onditional Grade, verall Originality

Most people gravitate to fresh restorations because they look new. What people really want though, s quality of workmanship and OE correct and original parts. This ’68 Camaro L34 396 Camaro SS is the epitome of both. A fully documented, o expense spared restoration was started by the owner, at Brinkley, ho had the car since 1985. Pat had begun the restoration in the early 1990’s but a serious car crash prevented him from completing his vision. Pat’s friends stepped up to complete the project, erformed as a labor of love, s Pat focused on healing. A complete project photo album is included with the car, s are complete decode of every VIN stamping, art number, nd date code on the drivetrain and glass. The complete story is chronicled in an issue of Super Chevy Magazine, copy of which is included with the car.

The quality of workmanship is self-evident, he car having spent a number of years subsequent to the restoration on public display at Floyd Garrett’s Muscle Car Museum as one ofthe best restored example of a 1968 Camaro SS known to exist.

It is one thing to collect a typical exemplar, t is another to snag a special ordered, ell optioned specimen such as this. The drivetrain options are as hot as one could get in ’68, he fire breathing L34 Turbo-Jet 396 engine, nd Muncie M21 Close-Ratio manual transmission, ll backed by 3.73:1 Posi rear axle. Whoever ordered all that “go”, lso knew that they needed “control” and “whoa”, o Power Steering and Power Front Disc Brakes also made the option list. Performance is nothing, f not combined with style. This time, he original buyer opted to go off-menu, rdering up a hot hue from the Corvette catalogue. She is draped in gorgeous Corvette Bronze Metallic. The black SS nose band, edline tires, nd color keyed steel wheels w/ chrome center caps round out the sporting looks of this first generation Camaro.

Regarding originality, ell- she sports her original VIN stamped drivetrain assembly, riginal Buck Tag that has never been removed or disturbed, nd even has her ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER. The odometer reads 29,784 which we believe to be actual. It doesn’t get much more original than that!

Keys to Collectability Summary

These are the factors that drive value in a given collector car are many, uthenticity, esirability, riginality, edigree, nd Condition are the main factors at play. The impact and interplay of these factors vary depending on the Make and Model. Here is a bullet point summary of the key points that make this car collectible.

  • Original, ow Mile SS 396 Camaro, ocumented by original window sticker, uck tag and 100% Original Drivetrain. Original paperwork is key for collectible Chevrolets, his car has it!
  • Special Order Color, orvette Bronze Metallic combined with the highest performance optioned offered in 1968. The right equipment combination drives desirability and therefore collectible value, his car has all the right stuff.
  • Concours Rotisserie Restoration, hat has stood the test of time. Consider condition and correctness, ot just the year a restoration is complete, ut how it shows over time. The combination of quality workmanship and OE parts on this car put it head and shoulders over any recent “Year One” restorations you’ve seen at the last Chevy show.
  • Current and complete mechanical check-up, ialed in and road ready. The car needs nothing, etting right to the fun with this car is immediate.

Still in near #1 condition, he current owner has gone through the vehicle to recommission it for road use. Originally intending to drive and enjoy it, e just could not bring himself to put road wear on a car that that has stood so long as trailered museum piece. So, s it is now, his Corvette Bronze Camaro SS is both turn-key road ready, nd concours show capable. You just don’t see this quality combination, et alone one that is for sale. If a ’68 Camaro has ever been on your bucket list, ow is the time to check that box and bring this one home.
