A brief history of where the Fastlane car has been for the past 10 years...
I have had a passion for ZR1's since 1990 when I saw my first at the Los Angeles auto show in downtown. It was Red and it had a rope around it and all I can recall is that there were hundreds of people standing around trying to catch a glimpse of this rare beast. This was the start of my affliction. I became a car nut with grease and gasoline coursing through my veins. I became a mechanic and a restorer.
I purchased Fastlanes car from its designer/original owner Lane "Fastlane" Goldstein back in 2005. I had read all about it in the ZR1 registries that I inherited from the owner of my first ZR1. My intentions at the time were to show it at exhibitions, ut life got in the way and free time was dedicated to restoring other projects and of course my family. My other ZR1 is a 1990 Black/Black, hat I modified with the help of Lane and his very good friend Rudy which was a wonderful experience getting to spend time working beside both of these amazing knowledgeable gentlemen. The Fastlane car was on display at the Corvette Museum in Kentucky, nd remained on display for a little while before they shipped the car to me. I attended the 2005 gathering with Lane immediately following the purchase of the vehicle to see it in person. The last person to race the car was Fastlane before my purchase. When I received the vehicle it was prepped for storage and I kept it garaged for many years. I am and have been in close contact with Lane and Rudy who designed and built this car over the years. Within the last year I was contacted by Mark Horner President ofZR1.netto bring the vehicle to the 25th anniversary ZR1 gathering as a show piece to be placed in from of the museum. I painstakingly went through the vehicle with the help of Lane and Rudy and I was able to get her running again. Unfortunately, was not able to attend the gathering, uch to my dismay, ut at least I finally invested the time and energy to get the car breathing again. The car fires right up and sounds as awesome as I could have imagined. You can literally feel the engine revving deep inside your stomach. It is a monster of a car and the ingenuity and thought that went into its creation is noted in ZR1 history and can be easily seen. The car is currently at my residence, ut it should really be in a museum or someones large collection where it can be seen and kept in the lime light. Lane and Rudy were pioneers at making tremendous horsepower with the LT5 engine, nd with this car, ed the pack creating the legend that is the worlds fastest ZR1.
About the Car by Fastlane (if you didn't know)....The vehicle was chosen as one of 6 most significant Corvettes in history by the Peterson Automotive Museum, nd was on display there for Corvettes 50th anniversary in 2003. The motor is a ZR1 4 cam 32 valve aluminum block and heads with an extended deck to achieve 431 ci with a good rod angle using custom extended cylinder sleeves and custom length chains with aluminum deck plates.. Fastlane Facts:-Runs on 116 octane racing fuel-Consumes 3.5 gallons of fuel per 1/4 mile pass-Fuel pressure is upwards of 60psi-Launches faster than a fighter jet-Does 0-60 in 1.2 seconds-Runs the quarter mile in 8.5 seconds-Its always in first (both at the races and there is no neutral)
Bottom line is that my collection has grown since the purchase of this car and since I am not going to race it (might show it), ut I am thinking it might be nice to allow someone else to enjoy it as much as I have. As I said I have owned this car for 10 years and it has not been driven. It could be raced if someone were to want to, ut more than anything it is a one of a kind car with a unique history and is a must have for someone who wants to own a piece of ZR1 history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHuhnXVsyG0
