Description
I bought this in 08, mmediately yanked the tired 283 and Powerglide and sold them off, ound a nice 350 with Edelbrock carb/manual choke and intake, overs etc and 700R4 and put it in. Dual exhaust with good mufflers were custom made and installed. I replaced all 4 coil springs and rebuilt the entire steering/front end last year as well as the drive shaft center bearing. I also installed 2 inch drop spindles and disc brakes in 09. I had a am/fm/cd player with 4 speakers installed right after i bought it. Also put a set of 15' chrome smoothies on with bullet centers and Coker radials. Found an original Impala steering wheel too. The car is basically rust free, ockers, upports, rame, loor pans all rust free with the exception of some minor holes in the rear quarters and the passenger side rear floor pan somehow took the brunt. All other floor pans are solid, runk and wheel wells back there are solid too. This car was built in Georgia and remained there until 06, hen it was purchased and came up to Minnesota where I bought it out of a storage unit in 08. The body is very nice and buffs up and waxes nice but needs attention to keep the shine on. The car has newer carpet and seats were probably done in the 90s very simply. Door panels could use replacing but look ok. All door seals, indow seals, elts etc are original except for door and trunk weather strips are newer. All glass is original with some bubbling o the layer between the panes on the vent windows. The car has decent heat because I replaced the leaky heater core with an aftermarket smaller unit which fits inside the stock housing and I also replaced the fan with new and added a switch under the dash. The car is a solid driver and can be enjoyed as is or you could do whatever you like, good solid platform to start with and needing very little work if you want to restore all the way. It runs down the freeway 80-90 mph easy and tracks straight with good brakes to stop you. There are no seatbelts in the car, ever were. The cabin stays comfortable even in warmer weather if you keep windows and vents open but I would recommend AC for southwest states. Please call with questions, have the car in storage right now but if you want, ou could fly in and drive it home anytime. It will fire right up even in cold weather. Call me at 612-226-3833
