Description

1942 Chevy coupe to drive or complete restoration. First off, f you're looking for a concourse restoration then this is not the car for you. This car is almost 75 years old and has been built into an old skool hot rod. I am a traditional hot rod guy and these kind of cars are my passion.
I will do my best to provide as much detail as possible but will be glad to answer any specific questions that you might have which are not specifically addressed. I have owned the car for approximately a year and a half, ought it from an older gentleman who determined he was never going to finish it. I took it from an unfinished project to where it is now.
BODY - The previous owner had the body work roughed in. It is black primer which appears to have been shot over a coat of red oxide primer. The rear fender seam was welded and filled. Yes, here is some bondo in the car. Also, t had some rust issues like you would expect in the typical areas. Most of it has been addressed with other areas still needing attention such as the rear trunk valance lip, ear inner wheel well and lower rockers. It works well for a primer or satin finish but would need blocked and reworked in some of the areas if you were going for a gloss paint job. You would also want to finish up the rust repair. All chrome parts have been replated and the grill and door handles are included. Also all stainless trim has been straightened and polished, ost of which is still wrapped in brown shipping paper. The only pieces of trim I know to be missing are the front park lights and surround. Previous owner put in a flipped trunk latch with a hidden cable-operated entry.
INTERIOR - New (I hate to say it) billet :( aluminum gauge panel with Stewart Warner gauges, okar shifter, ew interior cranks and handles and a Pioneer stereo/CD player with a weak speaker in the dash. Mexican blanket seat covers, added foil insulation on interior roof, riginal door armrests and original interior quarter panels are in place and original door panels will be included. GM tilt column, ewer wiring harness and vacuum wipers that work like they were designed when they were new.......not that great. Cheap low-pile carpet on floor and inside trunk.
SUSPENSION - Camaro front clip with power steering and power disc brakes, 0 bolt rear end, owering blocks on rear and front coils were lopped off in the front to see how much drop was needed in the front - lowering coils and spindles would be in order but not installed. New steel wheels and Coker wide whitewall tires.
DRIVETRAIN - 350 small block Chevy with 700R4 transmission. I am not sure of the miles on either, ut runs strong with no smoke unless it's a small amount on a cold startup and I haven't really noticed that. I have cleaned, tched and coated the gas tank and installed a new sending unit, lectric high-flow fuel pump and electric fan. I had a balanced driveshaft built for it and recently installed a NAPA Legend battery.
IDIOSYNCRASIES - voltage gauge is sporadic but all others work, peedo is understated, ent window crank is broken on passenger side but still opens and locks, he shifter needs adjusting because of the neutral safety switch........otherwise it is a blast to drive and has the rattles, umps and bruises that go along with hot rodding an old car. The tach and club plaque are not included and the shift knob will be swapped.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have and thanks for looking!
