This 1966 Corvair Corsa/Fitch Sprint was last registered in 1989 and is obviously a candidate for restoration. The engine turned over by handso I took a chance on it. I added fournew 185 70 13 tires. I pre-oiled the turbo and cylinders. With a new battery I turned it over and found that all cylinders had compression. I bought a new fuel pump, lternator, elt, nd plug wires and changed the oil and filter. I could not blow thru the fuel tank so I puta gas can in the fender well for fuel. It started with starting fluid and the lifters pumped up in a few minutes. Now it runs smoothly. It probably needs a carb kit with accelerator pump as it starts hard when cold. Starts easily warm. I added new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and flex lines. One rear trailing shoe is marginal but all the other shoes are good. The parking brake works. The gas tank appears sound from underneath. There was no gas cap and thedrain was plugged with dirt when I disconnected the fuel line fitting. I got a new title and have put probably 70 miles on itas can been seen on Youtube video. The shifter is tight and positive with no grinding. The glass is good and the 4 windows crank. It drives straight hands off.
Compression test shows 1/160 2/135 3/175 4/150 5/175 6/150
Also present with the car are the aluminum 'Fisher" door sills, drain plates for the tub that I removed in the photos, enter tunnel underside cover also removed for photos, ug wrench and an extra parking brake cable. I have too many other projects to complete a restoration so I hope this goes to a good home. I bet it would easily run with a '66 Porsche and it can carry 4 real people. Good luck.

On Mar-08-16 at 20:14:47 PST, eller added the following information:3-8-16 I have added photos of the VIN# data plate and the body data plate. Engine block # is TI 221 RL. Also there is a data plate on the turbo Part #3856709 and serial #42014.
Also a photo of the back deck where the top stows and the electric motor. The sheet metal is in good shape. I have not tried a hot wire to the motor. The other added photo is of the rear spring but if you look past it you will see a splice in the brake hard line. When I replaced the flex line it would not separate from the hard lineregardless ofdays of penetrating oil, eat, r even gorilla vice grips. That hard line will be easy to replace once the engine is dropped for cleaning, ainting or whatever is needed. There is also a brake line splice in the right front wheel well that can be replaced after the gas tank isremoved for cleaning. The new owner should not drive on the street with these splices, not uncommon repair in the old days but not considered safe now.
I have no documentation for the car other than an old Oklahoma title from 1978 and some minor receipts. I have heard from anecdotal sources thatFitch's records were minimal to non-existent--these were modifications done with mostly common aftermarket parts--and that hedid only a half dozen convertibles -- obviously the fastback "sails" wouldn't be one of the mods :-) Whether this is true or not, don't know. If true, hether this car is somehow one of them, have no receipts. If not true, ome owner picked up the badge somehow. This is a restoration project that will needappropriate work, xpense and time.It will be a car to be proud of and a gas to drive...but not a Mona Lisa. Thanks for your interest. Please bid on what you see.
