Description

Up for sale is a very rare 1961 Chevrolet Nomad. This is a 9 Passenger V8 car. There were only 7,761 of these built and they were the most expensive Chevy in 1961. I’m told this is a one owner car before I got it. It’d been in this mans family since it was new, t sat in his garage since 1979 when it was last registered. For the last ten years its been outside which gave it that great patina that’s showing today.
It is 99% original paint. Two of the doors were repainted at one point of its life. The original color is Fawn Beige with a white top.
The chrome on the car is in surprisingly good condition, ’m guessing its so nice because it was in a dry garage in Northern California for so many years. It’s been in Sonora, A since it was new. The Chrome rack on top is in great usable condition. The chrome isn’t perfect but if you’re leaving the patina its perfect.
This is a blank slate for whoever wins this car. I considered putting a big ol’ motor in with updated lowered suspension and nice wheels, ut I had a medical emergency which set me back for a few months so I’m passing it on to someone who will be able to get it done.
The interior needs to be redone. I got a quote from my interior guy at around $3500. There are three original rally wheels to the car. I’m not sure what happened to the right rear wheel unfortunately. The passenger front floorboard needs to be replaced before the interior is redone. Its got a couple holes from sitting water. But it’s the only section with rust. The trunk and rest of the car has no rust which is crazy, ut again it’d been sitting in a garage for ¾ of its life.
All the glass on the car is in great condition. I believe the windshield has one little rock chip in it but its usable.
The Rear window is Electric, hich is very rare on these cars. It works! We hooked up a battery and it went up and down
This is a really great project. If I were going to keep the car I’d neutralize the rust and clear coat in the nice patina. Then put new wheels and tires on and drop in a big block to make a great sleeper. It wouldn’t take much to get it back on the road.
