We won't even pretend for a moment that is like any other pickup you've seen before. This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 has left its workhorse roots behind with all sorts of great features like the lowered suspension, matte finish paint, leather interior, and updated chassis. This one was not built to haul wood... It was built to turn heads. This Chevy just gets cooler the longer you look at it. After all, most of the custom pickups on the scene are in bright clearcoats, so the clean matte finish is instantly eye-catching. But this Desert Beige paint does not lack luster. This custom color has a subtle shine that radiates an aggressive elegance. Plus, there's so much custom pinstriping that people will be hanging an inch from your fenders at every car show. But the real trick to the paint is that it makes the brightwork really stand out. This one even keeps its original iconic five-slat chrome grille, and now it has a cleaner, uninterrupted appearance thanks to the turn signals being integrated into the headlights. Even with the pickup lowered to street rod height, you can still see that the cool US Mags wheels are staggered in size to give this Chevy an aggressive stance. In fact, to fit the larger rear wheels, gas tank, and other components under the lowered suspension, the truck bed had to be custom raised a cool custom trick that most people won't notice because they're too busy marveling at the real wood bed.The tan interior perfectly mixes original style with modern components. Probably the best example of this is the bench seat. It doesn't look out of place for a late 40s vehicle, but it has much more padding and is covered in soft leather to give a much more comfortable experience than the standard pickup. There's also plenty of insulation with the full carpeting and door panels that perfectly bring together the colors of the floor and dash in one custom application. This was built with the driver in mind, including a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with cool chrome center. Beyond that is a full set of Dolphin gauges that provide all the necessary info with their crisp markings. Plus, your right hand may never want to leave the Lokar shifter. At first glance the radio might look like 40s factory equipment, but beyond the knob-style appearance is a modern AM/FM digital tuner.Under the hood is Chevy's smooth running and trusty 305 small block. The V8 looks nice with the chrome air cleaner and valve covers, but beyond the shine is some serious substance. It starts with the extra power created by the Holley four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake. The extra power is for both added performance and comfort because it's mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. In fact, the whole pickup has a dual personality on the road thanks to a frame borrowed from a more modern S10 pickup. This includes the more comfortable and better handling independent front suspension as well as other great driving features such as power steering and front disc brakes. There's even an aluminum radiator with electric fan so you can stay cool in traffic. Are you starting to get the picture on this pickup? It's a custom build made to look wild on the outside, comfortable on the inside, and an upgraded drivetrain to make it perfect to take anywhere at anytime.
