Description

Who would have guessed in the mid 50's with a name like Task Force, Chevrolet 3100 series trucks like this beauty would be begging to be turned into serious hot rod machines. This one doesn't disappoint in any way.Just one look and you can see a lot of work that has gone into this pickup. The deep blue, with a hint of purple paint has the kind of rich and deep shine that is better than anything that could have come from 1956. The chrome of the egg crate grille, bumpers, gas cap, door handles, and light surrounds all shine like mirrors. There is even a bit of attitude added to this truck with a lowered stance on aftermarket double tri-star wheels. But even with these refreshed and upgraded items, the truck doesn't lose its original personality. This model series was the beginning of the wraparound windshields, and is known for the extra flair in the fenders (especially the rear). The final touch is the real wood truck bed with the correct alternating planks between body matched metal strips. The tailored feel of this truck really is raised another notch just by stepping inside. Custom leather bucket seats have an included armrest and a nice diamond stitching pattern. This provides a blueprint for the door panels and headliner. All of the metal pieces on the inside utilize the shade of blue used on the exterior. Even with all this coordination, there are some areas for extra chrome such as on the Lokar floor shifter, custom steering wheel (with power steering), and tilting wheel column. Just like on the outside, some of the best styling elements went untouched. For example, fan-style gauge cluster is a great piece to keep because it has the same cool character that was being added to Chevy's now-iconic 1956 passenger cars. The motor is very performance oriented, but it still offers an interesting twist on originality. The last few years of this Task Force series were the first time Chevy offered the V8 under the hood. This 1956 model had its V8 substituted by the larger 283 cubic-inch motor that was available in 1957 the final year for this setup. The V8 then had performance goodies added such as a Mallory ignition, exhaust headers, and tri-power carburators, also known as three deuces, mounted on an Offenhauser intake. But trucks like this are meant to show off, even standing still, so there are plenty of chrome upgrades such as the shroud, alternator, piping, and the finned valve covers. All of this provides a nice contrast to the engine bay's paint, which also matches the exterior and interior color a final touch to this uniform appearance, and more evidence of a comprehensive build. This motor is mated to a three-speed automatic, which then sends the power to a Ford nine-inch rear end. With tubular control arms, power rack and pinion steering, and power front disc brakes, this old workhorse drives like a dream. It might seem odd to add that final blue oval part to such a loyal bow-tie truck, but trust us, you want this kind of reliability with all the added performance parts. When you want a custom vintage truck, you look for one that has great upgrades, great paint and body, without it losing its soul. Here is all of that personality in and extremely well done package. Call today!!
