WAS BORN A TRUE L79 SS CHEVY II
SADLY IT WAS TUBBED. BASICLY THIS IS A ONE FAMILY OWNED TRUE L79 BOUGHT NEW BYA LOCAL COUPLE. WHEN IT WAS 2 YRS OLD THEY GAVE IT TO THEIR SON. THE SON WAS INTO RACING. HE BRACKET AND STREET RACED IT FOR ALOT OF YEARS. HE THAN DECIDED TO TUB IT AND PUT IN A BIGGER ENGINE AND AUTO TRANS. HE HAD OWNED HIS OWN MACHINE SHOP AT THIS TIME, AND TORE IT DOWN (NOT KNOWING WHAT IT'S VALUE WOULD BE ONE DAY) AND ALMOST HAD EVERYTHING DONE WHEN HE PASSED AWAY.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT HIS ESTATE SALE, AND THIS IS WHERE THE STORY TAKES A TERRIBLETURN. THE AUCTION COMPANY SPREAD THE CAR OUT THROUGH THE WHOLE AUCTION. # MATCHING 350HP 327ENGINE SOLD WITH OTHER ENGINES, # MATCHING 4 SPEED, SEATS, ORIGINAL FENDERS, CHROME DOUBLE SNORKEL AIR CLEANER, GLOVE BOX DOOR, TRUNK TRIM, 4SP CONSOLE, TRIM, ETC. ALL SOLD IN DIFFERENT LOTS. I WOULD HAVE HAD TO BUY THE WHOLE AUCTION TO GET EVERYTHING. I BOUGHT A FEW THINGS BEFORE THE CAR CAME UP FOR SALE THAT I KNEW I COULD RESELL IF I DIDN'T GET IT.
OTHER THAN SEEING THE RARE L79 PARTS AT THE ESTATE SALE, TALKING TO THE FAMILY AND IT BEING A WELL KNOWN CAR IN THE AREA FOR MANY YEARS, IT'S HARD TO PROVE TO EVERYONE OUT THERE WITHOUT THE ENGINE, BUILD SHEET, OR PROTECTO PLATE THAT IT WAS A TRUE L79.
YOU CAN NOT PROVE OR DISPROVE A L79 BY THE DATA PLATE OR VIN #.I KNOW THIS! NONE OF THAT MATTERS ANYWAY. THE DRIVE TRAIN IS GONE AND THE CAR WAS BACK HALFED FOR RACING.
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT IS A TRUE SS CHEVY II THAT CAME WITH A V8, FOUR SPEED, BUCKET SEATS AND CONSOLE. THE FIRST THREE OF THE VIN # TELLS US THAT 1= CHEVERLOT 18= CHEVY II SUPER SPORT V8. I BOUGHT THE BUCKET SEATS AND CONSOLE THAT WAS IN THE CAR FROM THE FACTORY, AND YOU CAN SEE THE FOUR SPEED HUMP IN THE PICTURE OF THE FLOOR.
THIS CHEVY II SS ISBASICLY JUST TUBBED, NOT GUTTED. STILL HAS IT'S ORIGINAL FRONT END, DOORS, QUARTER PANELS, TRUNK, HOOD,AND IT ISBASICLY RUST FREE. JUST A FEWRUST PITS ON DRIVER FRONT FLOOR PAN (LOOK AT PICTURE). GLASS IS ALL GOOD EXCEPT FOR CRACK IN WINDSHIELD.
I BOUGHT THE ENGINE FROM A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC ANDENGINE BUILDER. HE BUILT THIS ENGINE FOR HIS 1970 CHEVELLEANDHE RAN MID 12'S IN THE 3800 POUND CAR ON STREET TIRES.THE ENGINEDOESN'T HAVE ALOT OF TIME ON IT AND IT SCREAMS!! IT'S A 355, 0 DECKED, DART HEADS AND PUSHING 500HP (ON PUMP GAS). I HAVE NEVER RACED IT. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO FINISH, WISH I DID..NOT MUCH LEFT TO DO. WOULD MAKE A NICE PRO STREET CRUISER. HAS WILWOOD DISC BRAKES ON ALL FOUR CORNERS.
TRANS IS A 350 WITH A MINI TORQUE CONVERTER WITHA 3500 STALL. FRONT WHEELS WILL RUB N.O.S. FENDERS IF YOU TURN SHARP. WILL NEED NEW WHEELS OR SKINNIER TIRES FOR THE FRONT (THEY HAVE NEW TIRES ON THEM).
EXCEPT FOR A NEW DASH PAD THAT I FORGOT TO INCLUDE IN THE PICTURES, WHAT YOU SEE IS ALL I HAVE FOR THE CAR. SHOWN IN THE PICTURES OF THE PARTS IS THE REAR WINDOW TRIM I BOUGHT NEWFOR THE CAR.

On Jul-30-16 at 13:07:55 PDT, seller added the following information:I need to put an end to all the calls and questions wanting me to sell the car without the engine, thinking they can steal it! Car will be sold as it is. The engine is bad ass and the car runs great. The new owner can sellthe drivetrain or put it in another car or truck. I am not going to spend a day undoinga lot of whatI have done. This SS Chevy II will make a great cruiser and shouldblow the doors offmost of the cars in your town!
