Description

Here it is, your chance to own a very rare C3 Corvette. This is my 1978 Corvette Silver Anniversary edition. 1978 was the 25th anniversary and Corvette celebrated by making this special edition car. Its set aside from the rest with its special 2 tone paint job with pin strip in between. This one has a rare feature in that it has the black leather interior. Most had the off white oyster interior.
I know how it is to buy site unseen on ebay so I am going to do my best to describe everything a potential bidder might want to know. If you are local to the Chicago land area please feel free to message me for a viewing and test drive. I've only driven the car about 100 miles( sits in the garage ever since baby#2) but here are my impressions.
Its a clean title real Silver Anniversary car with black interior and 71k miles. The body is straight with no cuts, cracks or scrapes. The frame is in awesome condition with no rot, repairs or damage. All the glass is intact as are all the lights and moldings.
The black interior is in overall good condition. . The seats are in driver condition as pictures. The passenger seat is very nice the driver has bolster wear but still comfortable. The dash and door panels are in good shape, cluster, dash and console in good condition too. Glove box opens and closes and the shifter and steering wheel (center horn button needs a clip) are nice. The headliner to the t-tops look good and it overall shows well. Will need front carpet and the rear could be re-dyed
The cars engine and trans are in great shape. The engine does not make any weird noises and does not burn anything. Runs really strong and will idle all day and not overheat. The transmission shifts perfectly and drives very well.
Power steering works great, steering is tight. Brakes work well and has a new caliper and pads in the rear. Tires hold air very well and have decent tread left. Wheels have no curb rash and are all straight.
Windows work very well, wipers work, doors, hood and t-tops latch great. All signals and lights work. All gauges work except the clock and mph recently stopped working, maybe the cable?
There are some things I planned on fixing. Nothing prevents the car from running and driving and I have some new parts included to fix some of the issues!!
Car sits a little low in the rear and makes a rubbing noise while driving. Was told the leaf spring bushing are worn out. Looks good but figured I'd replace them one day. New parts in box included.Headlights light right up but they don't go up on their own. I believe its a vacuum leak, maybe a hose?Ac components are all there but needs charge.I have new valve cover gaskets included.I installed a new battery, new left rear caliper and rear pads. Car runs awesome but idles high when first started. Could be sticking choke? The paint from the doors back is faded so that needs attention.
So overall this is a really cool and fun car to drive. I love taking the t-tops off and cruising along on a nice summer day. Its a perfect little project for someone with little mechanical skill.Fix up some of the mechanics listed for just a few hundred bucks, get the paint fixed and pick up your perfect anniversary Vette. This is a great opportunity for someone to pick one up cheap and have a great investment at their own pace as the car can run and drive as is.
I am an honest seller with a clean title in my name. I like to deal with similar people without any drama. Maybe a father son restoration team or just an enthusiast that knows his old cars. I recommend you ask any and all questions before bidding. If you are able to come out for a test drive and inspection that's always best. Most car adds are very vague and most every old car needs work. I want to be honest with everything I know this car needs so there are no issues and the buyer feels comfortable. I have no problem helping getting the car picked up if you are shipping.
This is no reserve auction so the car will sell. Please be ready to purchase car if you bid. I reserve to right to end auction early. I also have a walk around video and video of it starting and driving down the road. Message me with email for link.
Thanks so much
Alex
