1954 Chevrolet Corvette The first generation Corvette is the quintessential American sports car. It was the first. and it has grown and evolved since then to become the best. This early example is in fantastic condition and ready to go to a collector like you! This car left the factory painted Sportsman Red with a Red Vinyl interior. Its VIN. ES54S001441 makes it Corvette number 440 to roll off the assembly line at the then-brand-new St. Louis assembly plant. According to NCRS. that means its build date was Feb. 22. 1954. It had a recent repaint in a lovely shade of Polo White. which perfectly accents the unmolested but restored red vinyl interior. The odometer shows 1. 60 miles. which we believe to be since this car was restored and re-painted. Under the hood is the original “Blue Flame” inline 6 cylinder engine. which. for 1954. got a camshaft upgrade from the factory to produce 155 horsepower. Mated to the 6 is a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. the same as all 1954 Corvettes. This car is wearing a lovely set of Firestone wide whitewall tires. which is what it would have left the St. Louis factory with. An AM radio and heater are among the only options. and it sports a recently replaced tan convertible top.
