1986 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc Z 305ci 5.0 V8, Tuned Port Injection, 4 spd Automatic, 100,335 miles |
Up for sale is an 1986 Iroc Z I took in on trade 5 years ago. This car is 30 years old and will require some maintenance and TLC, but overall, it looks really good. It's a third generation Camaro, so the parts needed to get it back on the road are relatively inexpensive. If I had more room and time, I would build this one myself. This car has the potential to be a real head turner! The third gen Camaros are becoming more collectible, and their value is increasing. Now is the time to grab one! The description is long but will probably answer most questions, so please read to the end. This car has been sitting for the 5 years I have owned it. I have made no attempt to restore or repair anything. You are seeing it as I received it. I have never driven it on the road, but I start it a few times a year and move it around. ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN The engine runs, sounds pretty good, and doesn't smoke. The battery will start the car once charged, but it doesn't hold a charge for very long . The transmission will pull in all the forward gears and goes into reverse. The electric fan comes on, but the temperature gauge isn't hooked up. The alternator looks like it has been replaced. The coolant overflow bottle has a crack in the top corner, but it is not in a place where it will leak out. The previous owner removed the pollution control system and all the air conditioning parts from under the hood (except for the condenser) and broke the A/C evaporator/blower motor housing in the process. The factory exhaust manifolds were replaced with headers. There is a newer Y pipe which looks to be about 2 1/2" with a straight through muffler attached where the catalytic converter would be - this is where the exhaust stops. The air filters are K&N. The rear drums and front discs appear to have been replaced. The tires have quite a bit of tread and hold air, but are somewhat old. The wheels are in nice shape, but are missing the center caps. A couple of the sway bar links are broken. INTERIOR The interior is exceptionally nice for a 30 year old car (see pictures). The seats are all in good shape except for a small 1/2" slit in the side of the driver's seat back and some cracks to the piping. The carpet is decent, but could use a good cleaning. All the plastic trim looks to be in good shape as well as the headliner. The power door locks attempt to work and will jump a little when activated; I think the mechanisms inside the doors might need lubricated. The power windows, power mirrors, interior lights, head lights, brake lights, hatch release, and rear hatch motor all work. The leather was removed from the steering wheel. The radio powers on and the display works, but the only sound you hear is static. The dash pad has a crack in it but is still nice. The center console lid has a crack in the vinyl and the latch is broken. Both door top rails have cracks in the plastic toward the front, but I have salvage yard replacements. The spare tire and accessories are missing. EXTERIOR The car does have a little rust, but it is not a rust bucket (see pictures). A small area of the drivers side floor pan is rusted through at the kick panel/rocker seam and toe board, and there is some flaking to the passenger side and rear. Both of the rear inner wheelhouses have a small rust hole just in front of the tire. The spare tire well has rust at the wheelhouse seam. The doors have some rust along the bottoms. The hatch has some rust underneath. The bumper impact bar has rust. The battery tray is rusted through. There are some small blisters in the paint with surface rust in a couple places. The fenders, quarters, door skins, hood and roof appear solid and straight. The paint is faded across the hood, roof, trunk lid and top of the bumpers. There is an upside down question mark shaped crack in the windshield on the drivers side which doesn't show up in the pictures. The hood does not stay up on its own and will need new lift shocks. TRANSPORTING Although the car runs and moves, I highly recommend it be trailered to its new home. The front to rear brake line is missing and plugged off at the master cylinder and rear valve. The car should have no problem pulling itself upon a trailer. The front brakes will stop the car from rolling. If you have any questions, please email me. I have done my best to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible. Nothing has been intentionally misrepresented nor are there any intentional omissions. The car is being sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. A NON-REFUNDABLE PayPal deposit of $495 is due immediately upon "Buy It Now" and within 24hrs. of auction close. The remaining balance can be paid in cash when the vehicle is picked up. We do not deliver. The buyer is solely responsible for transport from Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. I have a clear Ohio title in my name. |
I have posted 58 pictures of the car. The last picture is of the RPO codes from under the center console armrest for those interested to know what options the car came with. Please look at the pictures carefully, and ask any questions before you buy. Thanks for looking! |
