Additional Info:

The cowl plenum air cleaner is a reproduction. We do have the original cowl plenum air duct that bolts to the firewall. The original air cleaner was stolen when the second owner was out to dinner with his wife. Sad but true. The headers came in the trunk of the car when it was delivered to the original owner. We do have the original cast iron exhaust manifolds. Also, this car did not come with a pollution pump.

This car was stripped and painted in 2010. The body was in beautiful shape. The interior is original, however we did put in new carpet. The original bumpers have been re-chromed. I had the motor overhauled in order to make sure that everything was in good shape. I did add roller rockers, and balanced and air-flowed the heads. I also had the original brakes re-built and put back on the car. The undercarriage was in excellent condition with un-restored original floors and no rust. I had the frame painted.

We have the original car invoice from Forsyth Chevrolet Co., 243 W. 8th Ave., Homestead, PA dated 4/4/68. The purchase price was $3683.80, with the following options: LeMans Blue, Black vinyl trim, 4-spd CL Ratio Trans, Special Performance Equipment (cowl plenum air cleaner and headers), positraction, radio, and power. disc brakes. When the first owner went to pick up the car at the dealership, he took along his young next door neighbor. When the neighbor kid grew up, he bought the car. We purchased the car from the second owner who had moved to Raleigh, NC, and we had the car shipped to us in Illinois.

On Sept. 20, 2009, the car was appraised and certified as authentic by Jerry MacNeish, Certified Appraiser, IAAA ID #1007319906, Certified Diamond Judge, American Camaro Association, Technical Advisor, International Camaro Club, (410) 781-0418.

My pictures of the cowl tag (or trim plate) on the firewall are not very clear. The Build Date is: 03D (4th week of March), Paint Code: U-U (LeMans Blue/White Stripes) color was introduced in January, 1968; NOR#104277 (built in Norwood, Ohio), Trim Code: 712 (black standard interior - bucket seats)
