Description

THE COOLEST RATROD EVER! Here we have a 48 Chevy cabover 5 window. This COE has been given an amazing resto mod with respect to its historical definition. These trucks are getting hard to find, especially in this great of condition. It has been entirely checked through. Starting with the FACTORY 2 ton frame. I have rebuilt the brake system from master cylinder ( now a dual setup out of a chevy P50 bread van) and attached to a vette booster. brand new brake lines front to back. Re-shoe'd the brake shoes and had the wheel cylinders honed and rebuilt. She stopped better than brand new. Next the king pins got honed with new pins and bushings, and the wheel bearings have been repacked. Brand new tie rod ends, and tightened up the gearbox. It can be driven 65/70 with one arm rested out the window. Good luck finding one of these things that drives this well. It also got 6 brand new tires that now have less than 1000 miles on them. The engine was swapped out for a late sixties Chevy 292 that actually came out of a case combine. Very low hours. It has been mated to a granny 4 speed tranny of the same generation. Wanted something that had full pressure over the factory splash motor. Next the aircraft quality exhaust and intake were custom built. A manual choke 2 barrel Rochester for carb. Entire system is set up for a turbo that could easily still be installed. I just never got around to finding one and putting it in. New distributor ( 12 volt with points delete) water pump, fuel pump, thermostat, coil, oil pump, plugs, wires, all new fuel lines. Has an electric fan. And a painless wiring kit replaced every wire in the whole truck. Coors keg for a tank and coors tap for a shift knob. Glass is all good. This thing just needs a new home and someone to put there own finishing touch on it. I built it as a mini semi ratrod. Even got an old school 5th wheel plate for the full effect. I'm sure there is more that I've missed. Whoever ends up with this truck will own a peace of American history. Unfortunately most people take the easy way out and slap these cabs on a modern chassis because rebuilding the original chassis is quite challenging. But here we have it. This thing gets more looks and pics and comments than any $100,000 Street rod it's ever parked next to. Let me know if you have any questions . Thanks for looking.
