Description

If you're looking for an affordable 'Vette with a great pedigree, this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette convertible definitely delivers. It's a matching-numbers survivor with a 4-speed that runs and drives great, plus it's got a lot of originality. So, enjoy it, preserve it, have fun with it, and don't think too hard about the cost, because this car is very affordable. We're fans of this car thanks to the Daytona Yellow paint, mostly because it just works on the Corvette. It wasn't super popular in 1970 (for reasons we can't understand) so seeing one today is always a treat. The Corvette was designed to be a high-visibility car anyway, so you may as well go with an eyeball-grabbing color. The nose, the headlights, the hood, and the doors are all in great shape, so no work needed there, and the rear quarters fit neatly to the deck, suggesting it hasn't been apart or wrecked. There's some evidence of a little tweaking around the rear bumpers, but there's a fresh bumper included to get it dialed-in. The paint is original, so don't expect to win a concours with it, but when you're cruising along at speed, nobody's going to notice anything but a bright yellow Corvette convertible, so don't think too hard about it. Heck, the devil-may-care look works really well on cars like this, so perhaps you should just leave it as-is and drive the doors off it!The interior appears to be mostly original and in good condition. Black is really the only wise choice with the Daytona Yellow and the C3's cockpit is still a great place to spend your time. Like all Corvettes, there's a full array of gauges, with these showing big, easy-to-read markings and clear lenses and auxiliary gauges in the center stack that all appear to be working except the clock. A factory AM/FM radio was still an unusual find in 1970 and the three-spoke steering wheel looks almost new. There's also a 4-speed manual gearbox to provide plenty of entertainment and it racks through the gears with ease, working better and better the harder you drive. This car has a black vinyl convertible top that's in very good shape, and that's the one you'll be using in emergencies, but there's also a color-matched removable hardtop that's a very desirable option. That's the original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 engine under the forward-tilting hood and it runs superbly. There's a chrome air cleaner up top and some fresh Chevy Orange paint, so the engine bay looks tidy and well-kept, and a few recent parts mean that it's ready to enjoy. It has not been modified, either, so there's a Quadra-Jet carburetor and factory intake manifold up top and the cam inside means that this 'Vette idles almost as smoothly as a Cadillac. Talk about Jekyll and Hyde! Clutch take-up is light and the car pulls with plenty of torque, so it's easy to drive around town and out on the open road it's just a joy to row it through the gears. There's a correct dual exhaust system that was installed not too long ago, and the sound is just about right: not too loud but aggressive enough to suit a Corvette. The frame and underbody are original and in good order and the sucker really does drive well. Bright chrome Rally wheels look great and have been fitted with fat 225/70/15 Goodyear radials that are just about the right fit for the fenders. This is a car that would make a smart investment and you could take it to the next level, or just leave it as-is and enjoy without a single worry. Either way, you're getting an exciting Corvette that definitely attracts attention. Call today!
