Description
A 1937 Chevrolet Pickup in very good original condition is for sale with only 19557 miles on odometer said mileage reputed to be correct by previous seller. I was told it has been in storage since 1952. The cab still has the original paint but the fenders and the rear body have been repainted (flaking off). The bed is the original oak bed and only needs sanding and a new coat of varnish to look like new. I bought new coil points plugs condenser new sparkplug wires and a new NAPA Commercial battery. I found a short in the Electrolock and bought a new Electrolock (not installed) which needs the ignition key fitted to it (steel shielded wire running from the ignition to the coil). I bought an old door lock cylinder for the missing passenger door lock (needs key fitting). I also bought the rubber grommets for the shifter brake pedal clutch pedal and a underlay mat for the floor. The original floor mat and the passenger door lock cyinder are the only things missing. The front window as the other windows rolls out with ease. The doors close with ease and as solid as can be. The fenders have little dings and dents as can be expected from normal use. The cab has no dents nor has the bed body. The truck came with two carburetors a Tillotson YR2 and a Carter W-1 346s (correct carb). I tried the Tillotson which leaks and floods the engine. I have not tried the Carter but I did take it apart and clean it. I would use the Carter if I keep it. It is a darned nice truck.I bought the truck a month ago but recently discovered I can't drive it as I don't fit (I am a very big man). I have decided to sell the cute little truck and find a bigger vehicle to restore. This truck is ideal for restoration as ALL the parts are present including a very nice (double fan) Harrison heater with defroster vents that has not been installed in the truck. These heaters came as an accessory to these trucks and if you drive it in the winter you are going to want one. I have been trying to get it to crank and run smoothly but so far it runs a bit rough which I attribute to carburetor flooding the engine at idle and starving it for fuel when running (I don't have a clue as to how to tune it); but I will leave that for the new owner. It does not smoke when running and runs very nicely at low RPM but gets a bit rough at higher RPM's (fuel starved). All the gauges work but the oil line to the oil pressure gauge is absent. The brake master cylinder needs rebuilding. The original jack jack handle and hand cranker are all present. Very nice find indeed! The only fly in the ointment is the 216 ci block is cracked near the base of the block. This is quite common with old vehicles and shouldn't be a source of concern. It is a small 6" or so crack and it had been repaired. I removed all the repair material I could as I intended to soft solder it to seal it permanently. This is easiy done and most radiator repair shops will do it for for you for about $50.I just wish to get most of my investment back out of this very nice little pickup. My 316 lb frame will not fit in this truck or I wouldn't be selling it. I like the truck. I will answer any and all questions. Look at the pictures and please ask a lot of questions as this is the nicest non-restored 37 Chevy pickup I have ever seen. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this truck. It is not perfect but is amazingly complete and near rust free. If you want pictures of anything let me now and I will forward them. Good luck.Pick up only and truck is located in Coastal North Carolina. No warranty expressed or implied. I will assist in shipping if you want.
