Description
I'm selling my 1957 Chevrolet for personal reasons. The car has been in my family since 1965. I purchased the car from my uncle in November of 2002. He quit driving it around 1970 and it was parked outside until about 1990. The '57 was then moved to his barn where it sat until 2002. First off this car is not perfect by any means. I built it as a tribute to what I thought a small town guy in 1969 would have built it. The trim and chrome are all decent used items. No new or reproduction parts on this one. I'll start with the bad part first. In September of 2014 two of the rods decided to let loose so the car is not currently running. I brought the car back to my garage jacked it up saw the dent from the inside out in the oil pan lowered the jack and covered the car. So I know it needs a short block. Your good short block and a weekend is all that is needed to get the car back on the road. I built the car to enjoy have fun and drive. It's been driven daily it's been a weekend racer it's been to many cruise ins and it's been fun. Starting at the front the control arms coil springs steering arms spindles inner fenders splash pan splash pan shields battery tray radiator support hood hinges hood latch box and rods and heater box are all powder coated. I installed an original Cal Custom Tube Grille and a Finned Cast Aluminum Cal Custom Hood Scoop. The rockets have been shaved from the hood. Radiator is a Desert Cooler 4 Core unit. Heads are 1966 Camel Hump with 2:02 valves screw in studs guide plates full roller rockers and stud girdles. Intake is an original '60's M/T Crossram with twin Holley 600cfm mechanical secondary dual line double pumpers with chokes removed. Topping the carbs off are a pair of original Cal Custom injector style scoops. All linkage is mechanical. Fuel pump is a 110 GPH mechanical unit with stock 3/8" line back to the 3/8" sending unit in the tank. Tank sending unit and lines were all replaced when I built the car. I run a stock style points distributor with a hidden MSD 6A box. Valve covers are vintage M/T with vintage breathers installed. They sit on top of a pair of cast aluminum valve cover spacers ( to clear the stud girdles). Flywheel is a stock style steel unit. Clutch and pressure plate are Zoom Kevlar pieces. Scattershield is a vintage 1960 Wedge Engineering 1 piece NHRA Approved unit. Transmission is a Muncie 4-Speed. Shifter is a Hurst Super Shifter III with reverse lockout. Driveshaft is stock. Rearend is stock '57 housing and axles with a 4:88 Posi. Vintage style Traction Master traction bars. Stock type manual drum brakes on all four corners. Front steering items all bushings shocks etc. were replaced when the car was built and are still like new. The car drives great and is a blast. Rear bumper is a station wagon unit All lights (headlight taillight brake lights license plate lights turn signals glovebox light interior light and dash lights) are in working order. Car is an original radio delete car. Good working original Deluxe Heater. The 1960 Sun 10000 grand tach needs rebuilt and is mounted on top of the dash. Steering wheel was installed in 1965 and is a 1958 Impala piece. Shift plate console box and original red floor mats are all from a '63 Impala Super Sport. Stock fuel gauge works temp not hooked up and speedo needs removed and lubed. Odometer works but speedo quit. Front seats are 1969 Dodge Charger and were installed from a new wrecked Charger in 1969. Rear seat is stock with the Charger cover installed. Door panels have red and black snake skin vinyl that my Uncle installed in the '60's. Headliner is the original red one that Chevrolet installed in 1957. Carpet was installed in the '60's. Glass is all original with red tint applied. Passenger door glass has a crack towards the bottom corner. Both fenders are nice solid originals as is the hood and trunk lid. Both doors are original and solid. The quarters are solid originals as is the rockers. The floors are decent with a few small places but you can still jump up and down on them. The trunk area is still painted the original Matador Red and is solid. The tail pan does need replaced and because it is weak the trunk won't latch. I've had it tied shut for years. (Just being honest). The original rubber mat is still in the trunk. Paint is black primer and the roof is gloss white. All lettering was hand painted by Josh Shaw and was applied in 2003. car made it's debut 2 days later at the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green. The pictures pretty much tell the story on this car. Like i said It's not perfect. It was never meant to be. But it does get the attention. If you're on the internet much then you've probably seen this car. Include in the sale of this car are the following: 15"x7" steel wheels with mounted slicks new Aluminum Flywheel 3:36 open rear pumpkin (for highway driving) new drive shaft safety loop NOS Scheifer 5:38 ring and pinion and black roll/pleated stock front bench seat. I've tried to describe the car as honest as possible so be sure to READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!! It is the buyersresponsibility and expense to have the car transported. I will help in any way that I can. Car is located 35 miles South of Cincinnati Ohio. I don't mind storing the car (it's sits inside my garage under cover anyhow) for any length of time but require full cash payment within 7 days of auction's end. The '57 has a clear Ky. title in my name and is still tagged and insured. CAR IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY IMPLIED!!! If you have "0" Feedback please don't bother to bid unless you have messaged me first. UPDATE: I have removed the engine to see what damage was done. The short block is badly damaged. So I am including a 6000 mile rebuilt '69 large journal 327 with the sale of the car. But everything engine related from the old engine is included. You get everything pictured. Please ask any questions. I will answer honestly and timely.
